This photo was for the black and white assignment. I took it because the setting already felt very colorless, and I really like the way that the silver looks with the black and white filter. I think that the key skills this shows are "capturing inanimate subjects" and "composition (all, but also special attention)". I really like the simplicity of this photo.
Saffron finch is a small tanager originating in South America. The males with a vibrant yellow body and an orange crown can be distinguished from the females that usually have a somewhat duller coloration. However, females in some subspecies have an olive-brown body consisting of heavy dark markings.
The saffron finch (Sicalis flaveola) is a tanager from South America that is common in open and semi-open areas in lowlands outside the Amazon Basin. They have a wide distribution in Colombia, northern Venezuela, western Ecuador, western Peru, eastern and southern Brazil (where it is called "canário-da-terra" or "native canary"), Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, northern Argentina, and Trinidad and Tobago.
