Okay, okay...enough with the turtles already. I agree, but couldn't resist a last glance at the team taking a time-out ensconced on an uprooted lily pad. This is the last, I almost promise.

Turtles have always been my favorite animal. I still clearly remember my very first composition in early grammar school with my drawing of this very species sunning on a log on the cover. I've never lost the attraction and it remains a joy to see so many here.

Some may wonder as to why I didn't crop much of the right side, but the starting lineup always gets all the attention and I felt guilty about cutting the last guy on the bench, so he made the team photo. You may have to click large to see him.

Recovering key species for ecosystem restoration is this years theme; the Antarctic and South Georgia Islands are prime examples where multiple countries have agreed to share in the duties of protecting these ecosystems

Bucephalus and Alexander were inseparable; only Alexander could ride him, and indeed he did, into every battle from the conquest of the Greek city-states and Thebes through the Battle of Gaugamela and into India.

Although historians disagree on the cause of the horse's death - some claim he died from battle wounds - most agree he died of old age after the Battle of Hydaspes River (326 BCE… battle illustrated above).

Alexander founded a city in his beloved horse's memory and named it Bucephala. It is also interesting that Alexander built another city after his favorite dog Peritas.

Now the time has come to leave you

One more time

Let me kiss you

Then close your eyes

And I'll be on my way

Dream about the days to come

When I won't have to leave alone

About the times, I won't have to say

The photo was taken during Sergey's performance at the D'Addario Guitar Festival - NAMM Musikmesse Russia, in Moscow.

Sergey Tabachnikov (born April 17, 1987, Samara, USSR) - guitarist, musician, leader of the Nobody.one group. Without any musical education, he became one of the most popular guitarists in the country.

Tabachnikov plays compositions that are completely different in style. But critics and viewers alike agree that his work is nevertheless closer to instrumental and blues rock. He began playing the guitar at the age of 11. Sergei is self-taught, he does not advise others to use the services of teachers, believing that if you wish, you can learn to play on your own.

Sergey Tabachnikov, in addition to his musical career, maintains his blog on YouTube, in which he uploads reviews of guitars and accessories to them. The videos are very popular among both novice musicians and professionals due to their interesting presentation style and specific humor.

Sergey takes the performances of his group more than seriously. The funny guy from the video about guitars disappears somewhere and a professional musician appears on the stage who completely surrenders to playing the guitar.

The Nobody.one group is actively touring Russia and the CIS countries, participating in many festivals, including the invasion. However, speaking of popularity, unfortunately, the group is known only to a narrow circle of viewers, but we hope this situation will change soon, and the general public will learn about the talented guys and their leader!

Me, me and Louie, we gon' run to the party and dance to the rhythm, it gets harder.

Me and my girl, we got this relationship

I love her so bad, but she treats me like shit

On lock-down like a penitentiary

She spreads her lovin' all over

And when she gets home, there's none left for me

Summertime, and the livin's easy

Bradley's on the microphone with Ras M.G.

All the people in the dance will agree

That we're well-qualified to represent the L.B.C.

Me, me and Louie, we gon' run to the party

And dance to the rhythm, it gets harder

Oh, take this veil from off my eyes

My burning sun will, some day, rise

So, what am I gonna be doin' for a while?

Said, I'm gonna play with myself

Show them, now, we've come off the shelf

Summertime, and the livin's easy

Bradley's on the microphone with Ras M.G.

All the people in the dance will agree

That we're well-qualified to represent the L.B.C.

Me, me and Louie, we gon' run to the party

And dance to the rhythm, it gets harder

Evil, I've come to tell you that she's evil, most definitely

Evil, ornery, scandalous and evil, most definitely

The tension, it's getting hotter

I'd like to hold her head underwater

I agree I got carried away with the associations I had during experimenting with different screws, light sources and backgrounds (most of the images won't be seen here).

It was fun using the new light tape (it can be switched to different colours) that my husband brought home for (especially) macro work.

The four screws here were placed on a shiny plastic bag for reflections plus one on top. There are black cards in the background to darken the scene.

HMM to all participants 💙💙💙

"It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone."

-Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy

🌲Tree resin (along with other gum and latex fluids) plays an extremely important function in trees by rapidly sealing over wounds used as introductory pathways by invading insects and fungal disease agents. Organisms that try to enter a tree via a wound can be flushed out, can become stuck and trapped in the seal and can be overcome by the resin's toxicity. In any event, consistent resin flow is essential to the continued health of most conifers.

This is why my wife agreed to move here.

WHILE PHOTOGRAPHING, another bird, caught some movement in the corner of my eye, and fired a couple of shots off, to see what it was, it turned out to be a Sedge Warbler, and the image was a bit flukey , but worth keeping, hope you agree! Taken at Oare Marshes Kent U.K.

Im sure you agree.

Along the enchanted way,

And I said let grief, be a fallen leaf,

At the dawning of the day "

~~~ "I agree", says the white owl, "it was tough call to guess that it was my front with feathers from the angle/perspective Marjan had chosen."
"Yeah, maybe", said the little owl, "but you could also have become something completely different at that stage and they were nice suggestions. Dare to be different is my motto too."
"You are quite right, my little friend. So happy we met! Let's enjoy the sun for a little while more." ~~~
This origami owl is also from the same designer (Yoshio Tsuda), as the previous owls that I showed you and here a tessellation technic is used for making the feathers.
The other difference is that this model isn't closed at the back. That has the advantage that light can pass through, which I did with the help of the sun. And that makes the feather pattern more beautiful, at least I think so.
Forgive me the scratches on the table, I did my best to polish them away.....;-))
Paper:
- For the white owl I used a 30x30cm white tissue foil.
Final size: height 11cm, length 7cm, width 5cm
- For the 'golden' owl I used thin brownish wrapping paper 20x20cm.
Final size: height 7cm, length 5cm, width 4cm
Model: origami Owl with feather
This is the dress that I received from Miss Aniela, with a close up of it (and for more detail) in comments. It is the dress from this shot of hers, which is coincidentally my all time favorite of hers. Thank you again!!
I went to an old western town to get this shot...there were a bunch of tourists taking my picture from afar, videotaping me and whatnot. I think they thought I was part of a show or something, I certainly looked the part. It was cute :) I'm just glad no one asked any questions as I was flinging myself against the wall.
Baa-rilliant news! These two woolly wonders kindly agreed to pose for a quick snap. At first, they were a bit sheepish, but they finally stopped bleating about it and gave me their best looks. One even whispered, “Ewe better not tag me in this—I’m on the lam!” I told her to stop pulling the wool over my eyes.
I found them at my favorite alpaca farm, looking a little out of place. When I asked what they were doing there, they sighed and said, “We just needed a change of shear-nery.” They also grumbled about feeling old, but I assured them, “You’re not pasture prime!”
Anyway, I’ll stop ram-ewe-bling. Hope this picture makes ewe smile, well at least before the narrative makes you groan! 🐏🐏
So moving a little further up the east coast of Tassie, along the appropriately named Great Eastern Drive, my first stay over was St Helens and the magnificent Bay of Fires.
The Tasmanian Parks & Wildlife site describes it as follows: "The Bay of Fires Conservation Area comprises a series of magnificent bays that stretch along Tasmania's north-east coast. Bright orange lichen encrusts the granite boulders, contrasting spectacularly against the whiter-than-white sandy beaches and turquoise water in the bays." I would have to agree on all accounts!
This is a more subdued shot approaching the first sunset at Bailey's Beach, one of the quieter spots. When a beach has the same name as your grandson you have to visit it hey ;)
And bonus, The Bayside Hotel had a great little feed and a cold beer, within walking distance of my accommodation. Most welcome after a loooong day photographerising :)
Thanks to everyone who takes the time to comment on my photos, they are greatly appreciated!
What's going on in my mind:
I've had a hard time, but I don't want to complain and I've never done it and I won't do it now. And even though I never talked to anyone about these things, there were still a few real friends who supported me in some way without asking or making any judgments.
Thanks to all these friends who expressed their support for me here on flickr or in emails or even in SL.
I appreciate it really much and it helped me a lot!! ❤💕🌹
Finally, I dedicate perhaps one quote to all pseudo-friends:
"If you are not my friend behind my back,
don't pretend to be my friend to my face "
