As much as they get it wrong sometimes, the words can help one visualize a photo in a new and creative way.
These are some more shots of my Tour to Europe in Sept - Nov 2012. I has been a while since I last saw them.. great to be able to catch up on them at last!
On our tour of Valencia with my Cosmos tour, October 15, 2012.
Mercado de Colon market in Valencia. A gorgeous elaborate structure, spacious modernity, sort of simplified a-la-Valencia Gaudi, with a nave shooting into the sky and the colourful decorations depicting Valencian country life with Valencian ceramics. The architecture is so interesting it is suprising that the market was built in 1914, it is quite avant-guarde for those time
Councillors Lounge room in Edinburgh City Chambers.
Sir Walter Scott writing in 1827 stated; "Sir Sic itur ad Astra; This is the path to heaven. Such is the ancient motto attached to the armorial bearings of the Canongate, and which is inscribed, with greater or less propriety, upon all the public buildings, from the church to the pillory, in the ancient quarter of Edinburgh which bears, or rather once bore, the same relation to the Good Town that Westminster does to London"
I guess the Stained Glass refers to Holyrood Abbey which was found in 1128 and hence refers to the Canongate area of Edinburgh.
The Legend states that in 1127 while King David I was hunting in the forests to the east of Edinburgh during the Feast of the Cross, he was thrown from his horse after it had been startled by a hart( deer). Tthe king was saved from being gored by the charging animal when it was startled either by the miraculous appearance of a holy cross descending from the skies, or by sunlight reflected from a crucifix which suddenly appeared between the hart's antlers while the king attempted to grasp them in self-defence. As an act of thanksgiving for his escape, David I founded Holyrood Abbey on the site in 1128.
This is the skylight for the Guggenheim Museum in NYC, USA. It's done to death because it's the only one they'll allow you take.
It sort of nice that as I keep looking over the images from this shoot I continue to find ones that work. I suppose that I could go back on a lot of the stuff from the past year and find more expect that I've not really had too many good trips out with the camera. 2014 will be my best year yet (of course) and I will be shooting a lot of images.

We sit in a church for the Weight Watchers meeting, and there's always some great light coming through the windows. So I took this picture, and the woman three seats away said, "Overexposed." And I sort of sneered at her. And then she said, "Whenever I have shots like that, I always overexpose and then under process." I told her all my settings were manual and that my camera was a digital and that I did pretty well.
During the meeting she offered some advice to another WW member, and I recognized that voice. I got up and sat next to her and looked her in the eye. She said, "I know you!" and then we hugged. Turns out she was a friend of a friend, and we once spent a week in Martha's Vineyard together many years ago. She took a photograph of me on the beach there, reading a book, with cows marching by. She always took her cows and photographed them.
It's one of my favorite pictures. I loved seeing her again.

Etched into the windows of a building on the UCSF Mission Bay campus
A dilapidated house on the way home from work. I stopped to see how close I could get in the evening light and still make it compelling or interesting. Only a small portion of the house was getting sun so I concentrated on that small portion.
Does it work? Is it interesting, does it capture what the house is about?
This isn't 100% my usual style, but it isn't as far off as the bear yesterday. I'm a little meh about the composition.
PP was a contrast bump selective sat/desat - not full B&W just a little bump to make the sunlight pop.
I got out the 28-135 since it is very hard to find good places to pull off the road to take pictures (with the snow piled up), interestingly, in this case, I found a good place to pull off and take pictures so I didn't need the extra length.
Stagecoach London 36329 on route 386 towards Blackheath Village is seen in Greenwich high road 25/03/17.
National Express West Midlands Volvo B7RLE/Wright Eclipse Urban 1773 (BX56 XCS) ‘Joanne’ pictured in Walsall Bus Station working on the 89 to Wolverhampton.
1773 was based at Walsall Garage.

this is using my Land 100 camera with 690 film, no flash with the morning sunlight streaming through the window. I was trying to take just the window but Lola felt it was important to be part of the picture. It worked out well becuse she provides a soft contrast.
This is another detail of the Officine Grandi Riparazioni building in Turin.
