Went here to get some lovely reflection shots of the autumn colours on the still waters of the reservoir but it wasn't to be. It was a bit windy at the top which meant the water was choppy and as the reservoir was full this made the water spill over the dam wall which made for some great shots. It was surprising how loud the falling water was also. Rather a privilege to see the water cascading over the top of the dam.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !!
Today is a red day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is wear and tear. I decided, once again, to photograph an old book. I’m obsessed with old and beaten up books. Maybe it is because of my cold, I must admit I feel like the book in my picture. My cold is slightly better but I’m far from being back to my old self… Luckily for me, I will work from home today. I hope, from now on, it will get better. I wish you all an amazing new week !!

This rather bemused lady has watched over our family the last 20/30 years.....
These days the big decision of the day seems to be deciding what coat to wear when we go out. Yesterday, it was so cold again that I guessed wrong and it was a cool brisk walk home from work. Most of the day, we had snow falling like a snow globe around us. Luckily, the snow melted when it hit the pavement so I was able to walk with regular shoes instead of boots. The American Goldfinches are starting to change into their brighter yellow colors. They are being optimistic about spring.

A rather filthy 56105 brings up the rear of the 3J78 08:35 Nunthorpe to Carlisle Yard RHTT working as it crosses the River Wear at Croxdale.
For the record 56113 was at the head of the train (out of shot).

Bridges of Durham City. This one is some of the arches that make up Elvet Bridge . A medieval masonry arch bridge across the river wear. The building of the bridge began in1160.
You can see Browns Rowing Boats in this shot and hire the boats for a nice ride on the wear.
