... this is Dada concept to start my mind to wandering down the pathway called "Who Are We and Why Are We Here."
...but first, let me give credit to the brilliant photography of TungTong. Here's his link where I believe you'll find this lovely dancer:

When I was going to wellness therapy group sessions with my friend, Edith, who is a psychotherapist, she once told me something that opened my eyes. She said all people in the arts are probably a little bit dyslectic. Their choices give them away..... I quit listening and started remembering all the things I did to avoid math classes. I took a course called something like "Practical Mathematics" instead of algebra. When I went to college I finally was forced to take algebra and passed it (in order to get a degree in art (absolutely no other reason). A young mathematics teacher tutored me many, many nights through that semester and I finally finished it with a D or a C. I can't remember which. For some reason, plane geometry wasn't that much of a problem, but I realized Edith had nailed me good and proper.
Because of this and some other experiences, I find that I think more creatively when I'm responding to images. So I usually prepare an image to lead me into a realm of thought. This is such an image.
On this image, I love what the software has done to the girl and to my face. It actually has defined the essence of young and old, neither of which is good or bad, they are just what they are.
Actually I've played the part of God in front of an audience. My wife, Sherry, is a United Methodist pastor and at one of her churches, she preached a sermon on the creation. I dressed up in a white robe and while she was relating the seven days and the activities of those days, I was using a large paper pad, an eisel and colored chalk to put all of that to paper. It was well accepted and right afterward people started wanting to buy the results. One of them went for $100 (all church donations) if you can believe that.
Christianity tells us that God role played as a human being when he appeared on earth as the baby of Mary and Joseph and lived his life as the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The legend of creation tells us that God looked at the creation and saw that it was good, so I have no problem with looking at all of God's creations and seeing that they are good. Now the question is, "Who or what is this God?"
At one time I had it worked down to where God was a concentration of pure energy, so pure we have no sense or instruments to let us examine it. Science tells chemistry and physics become one at some point when you reduce life to its lowest common denominator. At another time I thought DNA would eventually lead us to a definition of God.
I've always belived that God is based in science and not in religion as we know it. Science has a thing called the theory of the conservation of matter, which says all matter remains in existence, merely changes its nature from time to time. Another theory of science is the conservation of energy. All energy remains in existence, it merely changes form.
If those theories have meit, the to believe in eternal life is scientifically rational. Religion says the soul lives on. Science says the life force lives on. Scientists might believe that electricity like substance we call life lives on, but question if memory and consciousness lives on. Religonists are positive that consciousness DOES live on and most religions are based on that concept.
So, in our minds, when we get to that point where we have every thing moving around rapidly in perfect order, we have God. He is it and we are all connected to him, or her. Then I read another book.
I sit here, as I said before and ask, "Who am I and why am I here?" The author of this book suggests we contemplate nothingness. Ask any question about nothingness and anyone who gives you an answer does not understand the definition of nothing.
In your imagination, let nothingness sit around for fifteen gazillion years...ok? Exactly in the center of all this nothingness, there is a slight stir and a thought appears. The thought is, "What am I and why am I here?" Now at long last you have God. Think about it. Maybe the whole secret of existence is conciousness.
But if we begin with God all of a sudden realizing he exists and then begins slowly to exert effort and imagination to create the world as we know it. Who created that consciousness? Or, who created God?
And, wasn't the question they fought over at the Council of Nicea in 325 CE? You know what? We're going in circles, again.
Going in circles is pure Dada, right?
This is one of a set of more formal portraits of students, tutors, speakers and conveners. Many are slightly soft because I didn't have a tripod with me. Apologies to the sitters for that.

The Canadian Snowbirds flew their nine CT-114 Tutors and delighted crowd at the Abbotsford International Airshow 2010 from Friday to Sunday, Aug 13-15, 2010. Their aerobatics demonstrated the Canadian Forces’ teamwork, skill and professionalism in the air. Officially known as the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, the Snowbirds was formed in 1978 with roots going back to the Second World War. This year also happens to be the 40th anniversary of this Canadian Air Force squadron with an airbase in CFB Moose Jaw, Sask. The name ‘Snowbirds’ was formally adopted in 1971 after a naming contest was held at an elementary school in CFB Moose Jaw. Though some say that the bane may have something to do with the popular 1970 Anne Murray song with the same name.
2010 also happens to be the 100th centennial of the Canadian Navy, so this year’s Abbotsford Airshow should be big which usually attract 125,000 annually. Other than the Canadian Snowbirds, others that will perform include USAF Thunderbirds, SkyHawks Parachute Team, F-15E Strike Eagle, USAF Heritage Flight F-115E, CF-18 Hornet and many more. Of particular interest is John Mohr who flew his vintage 1943 Stock Stearman PT-17 biplane and did slow roll, snap roll, barrel roll, hammerhead, stall turn and other unique John Mohr moves that only this veteran biplane aerobatic showman can. Just low level, in your face type of routines that are nothing routine about them. Watching on the ground, many in the audience wondered out loud how he did it. What is even more amazing is that the vintage biplane had no special engineering done to it since it rolled out of the assembly line in 1943. All that crazy maneuvering you see up in the air is pure pilot skill. Simply stunning. That’s Mohr Barnstorming!
