... a little change from farms, feathers, and forest views!
A bird's eye view of Tech City - years ago was only Circuit City but the wires have completely disappeared.
Forgot who asked me. But this is how I connect my fuel drum to the back of my Matilda2. I also run a light sword through both ends.

i just discovered the cyberdock where the new tech-rex is built. this is the view from it's cockpit, looking over the back which is hundreds feet long and heavily protected. well just kidding it's a trainstation waiting hall photographed from it's restaurant area. eat good, sleep good, have a nice fantasy :P
I just love the fact that they have old school antennas AND satellite dishes ...but no dryers for the clothes ??
12 hours on a ladder, not doing that again for a while.
Sick day at tech, bbq, couches and mad paint fumes!
This is a head shot of my previous post. Crazy eyes...well, crazy everything! Entry from ArtPrize 2021.

This former TWA 757 gets some work done by Delta Engineers in one of DL Tech Ops hangars. In the background are a Delta 737, 757 and 767 and an Enerjet 737. Thanks to those who made this possible!

Technology has dramatically changed the way we live. This week for the Flickr Friday challenge we want to see the impact tech has had on your values and behaviors.

A alternate frame from a Aug 13, 2013 photo shoot. I walked 3/4 of a mile from a Forest Preserve parking area, and along the Fox Valley Trolley tracks, and then the Fox River trail to reach this point. I believe the stone piers to be original to the 1882/3 construction of the Freeport Sub, but the steel trusses are from the 1920's and 1930's per a 1945 track plan
The CN Track Evaluation Train heading to Freeport. This came out of Chicago, and did a crew swap at Munger, and finallyyyy made its way West. The crew was from Freeport and on the scanner sounded antsy about getting back to Freeport before their shift time expired.
BIG Thanks to Bill Meir who gave me the alert of this train and the meet at Munger. I missed the M338 train by 10 minutes walking to this location. Sucked hearing it, but in no position whatsoever to photograph it.

This is Kelson Beach at the Western boundary of Grimsby, Ontario, on the South shore of Lake Ontario back in December 2012. Yesterday I posted a panorama format image of this area from higher up on the beach ( www.flickr.com/photos/jwvraets/52510610911/in/dateposted/ ) looking North toward Toronto a opposed to more-or-less West as in this frame. The point of land in the left background is Fifty Point, part of a conservation area by that name which is part of the Hamilton Conservation Authority property adjacent to Kelson Beach. Heavy winter ice and some tremendous storms a few years ago tore away the bulk of the beams making up the groynes and the area is less interesting (photographically at least) than it used to be. But prior to that loss, it was a well photographed spot (search Flickr for images tagged with Kelson Beach or Fifty Point) to see how this area looked in its hey-day. My original posting back in 2012 of a very similar image was processed as HDR, back when I was still enthralled with that technique. I wanted to do a more modern processing using what I now know and this is the result, which I feel is more natural. Also, it is quite sharp even on close inspection, which surprised me since it was taken using a Nikon D5000 and compares well with my current camera of choice’s (Nikon D800) results. Enjoy. - JW

Tech Details:
Original image taken using a tripod-mounted Nikon D5000 fitted with a Nikkor 12-24mm lense set to 12mm, ISP200 (base ISO), Auto WB, centre-weighted average exposure, Aperture priority mode, f/11.0, one of three frames originally intended to be used in producing an HDR image but only this frame is used here, 1/20 sec with exposure bias of EV+2.0. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon NEW/RAW source file: final image size set to 9000 px wide, Tone Mapping applied at strength slightly greater than default levels, Graduated Neutral Density/GND tool used to darken the sky, Shadows/Highlights tool used to recover highlight detail and also shadow detail recovered in the dark wooden beams, Contrast and Chromaticity slightly boosted in L-A-B mode, colour balance modified to get rid of a slight red cast, sharpen (edges only) save. PP in GIMP: Contrast boosted and overall brightness reduced, a copy of the image was made as anew layer and a black/transparent layer mask added after further darkening and contrast increases to sky and then using a white paint brush the sky was revealed along with the rest of the image from the layer below, added a non-destructive Dodge/Burn layer and then used it to brighten/dodge the ice and also locally darken the sky near the horizon, create new working layer from visible result, adjust colour balance to further reduce the residual red cast and also boost the blue channel to get a more neutral image, sharpen, save, scale image to 6000px wide, sharpen, add a fine black and white frame as well as a bar and text on the image left, save, scale image to 3000px for posting online, sharpen, save.
