How Solar Works:
There are no moving parts in solar cells to degrade performance over time. Solar cells are semiconductors. The sun’s rays, even on cloudy days, are absorbed by silicon material in the cells. This energy activates electrons allowing them to move freely – creating usable energy.
The solar electrical system is connected to the utility grid through a standard meter. It tracks net power usage and spins backward (producing credits) when production exceeds usage.
The inverter takes the DC current created by the solar panels and electronically converts it to AC power for use throughout your home.
If you finance your system, your monthly payment may be completely covered by the reduction in your electricity bill. From day one, a Marin Solar system adds value to your home, ensuring your decision makes financial sense both today and in the future. Call 888-56-SOLAR to schedule a FREE site evaluation and estimate.
I was out about capturing some newly completed commercial development. I swung around and these girls are giggling,
I wonder what they are musing about, and quickly check my zipper. I am quite decent, so I snap them.

The Fountain of Wealth is listed by the Guinness Book of Records as the largest fountain in the world. It is located in one of Singapore's largest shopping malls, Suntec City.
While walking along near the Embarcadero, I found this fountain which I had never before seen. It really caught hold of me.
This origami inspired sculpture by Ruth Asawa was created in 1986… so I feel all the more dense, never having seen it before now.

Left: 蒼星石 Souseiseki
Souseiseki is the 4th doll of the Rozen Maiden series & the younger twin sister of Suiseiseki. She sports moderately short chestnut brown hair, green right eye & red left eye, and wields a pair of golden garden shears.
Souseiseki is the most masculine of the dolls, and dresses like a boy - a blue caplet over a white shirt, blue pants and a top hat with short black boots.
Souseiseki uses her light blue colored Lempicka (レンピカ Renpika) to summon her weapon - golden garden shears - in Alice Game.
Right: ç¿ æ˜ŸçŸ³ Suiseiseki - Jade Stone
Suiseiseki is the 3rd doll of the Rozen Maiden series, and the elder twin sister of Souseiseki. Her long green Victorian era dress comes with a white collar and black ribbon around the neck, along with a white hair accessory, similar to a bonnet with beige lace like ribbons on each side of her face. Her long auburn hair is curled at the ends. Shy, nervous & timid, she resembles a housewife gardener, & has special power to communicate with plants.

New trends are emerging on a global basis. China is becoming a leader in green technology. The Middle East is investing heavily in the next generation of sustainable intellectual property. Western companies are anxious to compete in green R&D, but economic woes in Europe and lack of political will in the U.S. are getting in the way. Where will most of the new green technology—and thus the jobs and wealth—be created?

CLEAN ENERGY UNDER FIRE
In the U.S., wind and solar power face daunting challenges. Cheap natural gas is threatening renewables as an alternative fuel. Federal incentives for renewables will expire over the next few years creating uncertainty for investors. Nuclear energy provides a carbon free alternative, but high costs and a heightened awareness of risks post Fukushima have made its future in doubt. Overseas the picture for renewables and nuclear is much brighter. Will the rest of the world end up dominating the clean tech industries?

This is Solyndra's Fab 2 state-of-the-art robotic facility in Fremont, California which opened in September 2010. For a short time cylindrical panels of CIGS - Copper indium gallium (di)selenide - thin-film solar cells were made here.
Solyndra's business plan was to manufacture solar panels at $6 per unit cost and then try to sell them for $3, but that plan proved unworkable when China could sell them for $2.
That didn't stop the US Federal government from giving them over half a billion dollars in taxpayer-guaranteed loans.
President Barack Obama authorized a $535 million loan guarantee to Solyndra Corporation in 2009 as part of a program to spur alternative energy growth. George Kaiser and other Solyndra officials donated heavily to Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign and made numerous visits to the White House since 2009. Solyndra and the White House had originally estimated that this government guarantee of Solyndra's financing would help to create 4,000 new jobs. In September 2011 Solyndra ceased all business activity, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and fired all of its employees. The FBI and the DOE Office of Inspector General, executed search warrants on Solyndra’s headquarters in Fremont, California, as well as at the home of Solyndra executives. Neither the FBI nor the DOE OIG have commented on the details of this criminal investigation, and the warrants remain under seal with the court.
US taxpayers paid back the $535 million loan.
Uhmmm... what happened to the $535 million? Like where did all that money go?
