Europe, Belgium, Vlaanderen, Antwerpen, Centraal Station, giant decorative stickmen, bas relief.
Belgium is the land of the comic strip (bande dessinée) so it's no surprise to encounter these signs on steroids in Antwerp Central station. Bande dessinée (1) is here.
Shot at the bottom level of the station.
This is number 7 of the Stickmen leaving album.
Europe, Netherlands, Noord Holland, Station Hilversum Media Park, De Kijkbuis Footbridge, People (slightly cut from B&T)
The 'Kijkbuis' footbridge (September 2011) connects Station Hilversum Media Park (former names: Hilversum Noord and Hilversum NOS) with the Media Park itself. It is an aluminium and wooden structure (the weathered bottom part) The perforated cladding signifies radio waves. Design: Meyer en van Schoten Architecten. Realisation: Strukton Infratechniek.
There is some controversy over the name. The municipality of Hilversum still calls it ‘De Kijkbuis’, ProRail (the Dutch rail infrastructure organization), and the architects, prefer ‘Via de Kijkbuis´.
The footbridge replaced an earlier one that was demolished in 2013.
Shot on our way to the ´50 Year Het simplistisch verbond’ - ´Toen werd nu’ pop-up exhibition in ‘Beeld en Geluid’.

People filing into a photographic of a ´doka´, the dark room where in the analog days the ´alchemy´ of film development and printing was practised.
The new Nederlands Fotomuseum (opened a few days ago) is realized in a building that’s some 125 years old – the former Santos Santos Blauwhoedenveem warehouse -built in 1902 for the storage of coffee shipped from the port of Santos (adjacent to São Paulo) in Brazil. Design: the Rotterdam architects J.P. Stok Wzn & J.J. Kanters.
This is number 333 of Museum and 14 of Stickmen leaving - pics with exit signs.

Here I have caught the Stickmen playing a game of street Basketball. They seem to behave not unlike humans, but are extremely nocturnal. I have never caught sight of one in the daylight ohours.

When you multiply any number by 9, then add the resulting digits and reduce them to a single digit, it always becomes a 9. For example, 6 x 9 = 54, reduce 54 to a single digit by adding them together: 5 + 4 = 9. Similarly, 8 x 9 = 72, and 7 + 2 = 9. Or 23 x 9 = 207, 2 + 0 + 7 = 9, and so forth.
Number 9 is also the number of Universal love, eternity, faith, Universal Spiritual Laws, the concept of karma, spiritual enlightenment, spiritual awakening, service to humanity, humanitarianism and the humanitarian, lightworking and lightworkers, leading by positive example, philanthropy and the philanthropist, charity, self-sacrifice, selflessness, destiny, life purpose and soul mission, generosity, a a higher perspective, romance, inner-strength, public relations, responsibility, intuition, strength of character. It's also the favorite number of stickmen around the world.
And that's all I got to say about the number 9.

This kit comes with 2 different stickmen to hang from trees. Edit links so you can make the strings long or shorter as needed. Resize them, arrange them, overload the senses with so many.
"No redneck is this creative."
Also, 2 piles of rocks : standing, and knocked over.
You really don't want to knock over those rock piles....
"How would we have, like, just... made a campsite in the middle of three piles of rocks, just by coincidence?"
2 different colors of children's hand prints: Black & White
And reversed versions.

On A trip to the headland last night, I noticed something on the coast in the distance. I quickly convinced my GF that we should check it out! Just as I expected, STICKMEN! Here they are fishing I htink, seems to be a gathering of some sort, and the inclusion of that fish leads me to believe there may be other stick-species out there!
Hundreds of humans pass by this spot every hour and are all none the wiser. These things have infiltrated every section of our lives and we don't even know it!!

(22/365) I spotted these 2 happy chaps enjoying a pint & playing a tin whistle today. For 115 pictures in 2015 #27 Stick men
John Wesley Church, Waterford VA.....Several folks have asked if particular pictures are actually paintings. The short answer is "no." I really suck at drawing or doing real oil or watercolor drawings and paintings. Drawing stickmen is my highest attainment level. However I have always had a tremendous urge to be creative and this is where the digital world has allowed my creative spirit to come out from hiding. This image is a good example. I took the photo and proceeded to process it as an HDR image (hdr is "high dynamic range...I will explain all that in another post) The final result was ok. But, I wanted to experiment with different "looks." So I turned first to Adobe Camera Raw for basic corrections to contrast, vibrancy, etc. Then I opened it in one of my favorite digital art programs, Akvis Sketch, and experimented with the many different "look" options it presents. I combined a few of them and ended up with what you see here. I finish off in Photoshop for cropping, adding my signature (I made a "brush" of my signature, which allows me to add my signature in a couple of easy steps), and finally added an "action" of a shadow box effect that I developed and add to almost every image I post. The ability to utilize these digital tools and end up with a creative piece is very satisfying to me. And I hope you enjoy the final result!
Blair Witch Project.
I made this one and thought it would be fun to try and create an eerie and sinister image.

This shot made me think of the Manchester artist Lowry and his stick people for some reason, his paintings generally captured scenes of people returning from work and the like and I think the number of people in shot and the small size gives a similar feel, probably just me.
I thought I'd try a simple photoshop filter to get the effect a little more and have included that in comments if you are interested.
You will notice the view point isnt dissimilar to the night shot yesterday, again this is handheld but while its nice and bright that isnt exactly an issue here lol, if you havent seen the night shot or the 'Natural high' abstract I would love you to check them out too if you have the time.
Added....
Couple of things have occured to me, one of which to be quite honest, I'm a little emotional over, being the softie that I am.. Thing is that I said that the picture made me think of the paintings of LS Lowry, and true he did paint scenes, normally of town life scattered with simple stick men. But it occurs to me now that one of the sounds of my childhood was the song dedicated to him and his paintings....
MATCHSTALK MEN AND MATCHSTALK CATS AND DOGS
(Burke / Coleman)
Brian & Michael - 1978
And he painted matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs
He painted kids on the corner of the street with the sparking clogs
Now he takes his brush and he waits outside them factory gates
To paint his matchstalk men and matchstalk cats and dogs
Check the track out on youtube or elsewhere if you dont remember..
These were happy family times for me, and its only looking back you realise what you were able to take for granted... this song brings back floods of memories, anyway that's a personal thing that brings a lump to my throat.
I suppose it maybe the song mentioning the men and the dog(s), that along with the painting that has made the connection for me.
The other thing is that in 2007 a previously unknown painting of LS Lowry was sold at auction for 1 Million pounds, and that painting was of a fair, and the stick people.... for me the picture above shows a fair with the matchstalk men and dog(s).
Also added to soundtrack Monday, seemed appropriate

Well, it's actually gorse, which gets strategically burned back each year as part of a management programme. Although I also see lots of dancing stick figures having a whale of a time. Dartmoor can have that effect on you!
