This is an image I took from a glass blowing presentation at Wimberley Glassworks in Wimberley Texas. They were showing how they make pieces of their new collection called dragon scale vases.
This photo goes with the next image of Factory Butte in Utah.

Can you find me in the scene? I had just finished shooting and began the hike back, and he spotted me. I am a small black spec about one third up from the bottom and towards the left.

This chickadee was in our big apple tree earlier today, and came down low on the trunk for a nice portrait shoot.

The males have a brush at tip of the abdomen. They protrude it out and stroke the pouches of specialized scent scales on the hind wings to scatter the scent that attract the females. The eggs are laid on the tender buds or flower buds or the tips of the leaves.

This comparatively large hummingbird, which is endemic to the Atlantic Forest biome, is easily identified within its range by virtue of it being the only larger, predominantly green and gray-plumaged hermit, with a rather long, decurved, bill.

A little backlight but not something I see everyday so thought I'd upload it anyway. There were a few chicks circling the base of the fencepost but too hidden by the sage to get a shot.
What could be more tempting, an empty beach, a changeable weather forecast, and a strong wind making things happen. As the season progresses storms denude the beach of it's sand , and the rock strata is more emphasised. It's like walking on pavements of fossils. Fossil Scale is by Georgia Ruth

I chose the wrong time to visit this waterfall, a great lack of water.. there is the remains of an old mill on the site, not much remains and it is mostly covered by the undergrowth.

The New Haven RR boxcar at left is a "hirail" version that came ready to run from S Helper Service. The reefer at right was a "shake the box" scale wooden kit from Kinsman.
