Smile On Saturday: "Portray The Name Of A Music Band"
Salt-N-Pepa is an American hip-hop group formed in Queens, New York City in 1985. Group members included Salt (Cheryl James), Pepa (Sandra Denton), and DJ Spinderella (Deidra Roper). Remember Salt-N-Pepa? : Push It
Yes, I know.....
I like it glossy and shiny :)
Tiny people with big heads invade my house. They make no noise and don't empty the fridge, but they do take over just about any object here, even my coffee machine or slippers ...
Part 10 of my 2 week "Girl Talk - Feed The Animals" series.
This is by far my favorite track on the entire cd. The incredible genius of Gillis shows up here when he puts Deee-Lite, Salt -n- Pepa and Nirvana together. The first time I listened to this cd, this track had me jumping up and down in my car seat going "NO FUCKING WAY!!!" hahaha....obviously, Salt -n- Pepa's "Push It" was the inspiration for this shot today :) Get it? Push it? Push....it.....ahhhhh, nevermind....

I'll be back at work for another long day today...this is possibly the last day we do the Cash for Clunkers stuff. Possibly...haha.
In other news, one of my guiltiest pleasures on the TV is back up and running for a 4th season and on a new night, Sundays. That's right, I love watching America's Best Dance Crew on MTV. It's funny, because I don't watch anything on MTV anymore, but the hip-hop dancing on this show is just awesome to watch. Having grown up listening to hip-hop and being into breakin' as a kid, I still totally love watching that style of dance. The show format is pretty good overall, but I hate that the voting seems jacked up every season. Oh well...if you're into it, my pick this season is "Rhythm City" from the Bronx...they were head and shoulders above the rest of the crews. Runners-up would be a crew from Seattle called Massive Monkees who actually have some world-class b-boys in their crew.
Peace out yo!
Well, I haven't post a new picture in a while so I'm giving you one...
Over the summer, I won tickets from my local radio station to see my first ever concert. This is something that I will never forget..

My friend and I went as "Salt n Pepa" years ago for Halloween.
Trying to replicate those varsity jackets that they wear in the "Push It" video was gonna be quite a feat, but we pulled it off!
We went to the ghetto mall in C-bus Ohio and found some cheap white puffer jackets at a store owned by a nice Korean lady. She gave me a quizzical look when I said I was looking for a jacket to go as Salt n Pepa. Then I showed her a pic.
The white puffer jackets were perfect. Jay and I stayed up all night painting them to replicate the colorblocking on the originals. We almost contracted carpal tunnel from cutting out all the text like "Idol Maker" out of felt.
it was all worth it tho!
We were the hit at my friend's Halloween Party!
