No, I have no explanation. Regrettably it was impossible to get closer to make a sharper image and/or a different composition.
Biannually the Mdmot 3017 does a tour across the Hungarian railway network with a special weed killer train. I would have never imagined that we would see something like this in action, but against all odds it was active around the area we were present at, while we were driving from Poland to Romania.
One of the spots which we saw the train at was Árpádszállás - a passenger stop on the outskirts of Lakitelek. We had to wait some time for the track spraying train (75749 Újszeged - Kiskunfélegyháza), because it was letting all the passenger trains pass.
Mda 3017 is currently the only diesel motor unit of this class to be in running condition, and one of the two preserved, out of a series of 42.

One of the ranches in the Bear Lake Valley raises horses and trains them for sheep herders. The horses are kept in a large field without much interaction with people until they are rounded up. They are pretty wild at that point, but are separated into groups for training or breeding. The roundups are really wild, with horses milling around in a dusty corral as they are selected. The dust, noise, and action is unbelievable. This photos was taken in 2006 and scanned from a slide. It was chosen for the cover of Idaho Magazine in October 2006.

Scab is a problem in the Lakes so dipping sheep is a common practice. Sheep are generally brought down for shearing after May and all is done by August. The profit for the fleece is almost non existent, most farmers would claim that when they have paid for shearing they make a loss.
The landscape of the Lakes owes much to three main factors- 1. The Ice Age 2. 500,000,000 years of geology and 2. Sheep.

After viewing Flickr friend Neurandy's posting of his most recent painting (www.flickr.com/photos/46438776@N03/25232946359/in/datepos...) I was inspired to go back to shots from the Mantle Ranch roundup that were held in Three Forks Montana. The last one was held in 2012. I miss this event!
From grandparents to grandkids (the boy in the back right is 8 years old), this family works together to heard their cattle out of the San Juan Mountains north of Pagosa Springs, Colorado in September. We went out to take pictures of the foliage and got a bonus when we ran into the Snyder family herding their cattle out of the high country.
The classics are always the best and here's the proof!

A few years back while roaming around in the Flint Hills, I came across some ranchers herding their cattle up the road to some trucks. slow process as I was following them and once they were at the trucks, I could pass and go on my way.

Busy new parents!! These guys have been frequenting the backyard daily for weeks now but today brought along a few extras - 22 to be exact!!! They're going to be busy. Hopefully they have a good survival rate this year. The chicks are so tiny and adorable. Will get a video soon to post.
Yesterdays dirt road adventure wouldn't have been too exciting If we hadn't stumble upon the roundup.
We seen two guys working on a corral prior to coming upon the roundup The location is in the middle of FT Hall Reservation between FT Hall & Chesterfield Reservoir IID on a very remote dirt road.
