The concept of Torayan is that it is a Giant robot to save children from an uncertain future constructed and destroyed by adults. Torayan is children's last hope for survival so the artist design Torayan so that only a child can fit inside of Torayan (take note of the tiny door on the chest) and only a child can fit his/her arm into the mouth of this head and pull the ignition switch that makes Torayan breath fire. The child that was choosen to pull the switch was only 8 years old.
