Relocated was a three year (2001 – 2003) project based at Kensington public housing estate.
Photographer Angela Bailey and writer Angela Costi were based at the estate and worked with tenants and relocated tenants to document the redevelopment of this estate in physical, social and emotional terms and to acknowledge and celebrate the contribution made by tenants (past and present) to Kensington and to Melbourne generally.
This public housing estate was redeveloped into a new public/private housing development and 400 households (around 1000 people) were relocated temporarily or permanently from the estate to suburbs across Melbourne. Given the small size of Kensington (approximately 5000 people), this redevelopment signified a huge shift locally.
The project was a collaboration with the Tenants Union of Victoria, the Kensington Public Tenants Association, and the Office of Housing. Public outcomes of reLOCATED included an exhibition and public performance on the estate, an exhibition at Horti Hall Gallery in Carlton, and the publication of a book.

These little lizards like to sunbathe on car hoods. It isn't until I'm driving that I realize they're there, and then I feel really bad to be kidnapping them from their own neighborhood. After about five minutes of a slow drive to another part of town, they eventually hop off -- to meet new friends, I'm sure.
July 12-16, 2017: Konnarock Crew 2 working with Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club on an A.T. relocation on Sinking Creek Mountain in Virginia.
The new location of the factory required also the relocation of our apartment , to be nearer to the factory. We looked for a long time and finally an appropriate place on Landsberger Strasse , a street that stretched from Alexanderplatz to Landsberger Tor , with a lot of stores, streetcars, and traffic. This was a remarkable apartment , on the first floor, much grander than what we had before. Something special were the huge firesides in every room. They were built of colorful tiles that were certainly conceived by an artist and were actually beautiful. They had unfortunately one big disadvantage - it was impossible to get them hot and therefore we were freezing. Nette and me had our own room. Even this had its peculiarity. It was situated directly above a well attended saloon with an electric piano. In addition , the room had walls that let every sound through , maybe even increased it and the outcome was that we had difficulties falling asleep with this noise. The kitchen was huge, had in addition to a gas cooking plate , a very big oven that was coal-heated. My mother was an excellent cook. I have often wondered how she, who never looked at or knew a cook book, knew how to prepare all those complicated dishes , and what goes together.
I thought the cat might not "take" to her crate, but practically the minute we brought it home, she was lounging comfortably while hubby and I scurried around her. I hope she is as calm when she and it are in the car!

{352:365} The mini man has successfully relocated to the West coast. He only tried to escape once going through security and then only howled a little bit on the first flight. Aside from that he was a very well behaved little guy.
These doors were removed from the body of RG&E 8 so we can send them out to a local shop to be straightened and rebuilt.
