These Purple Swamphens are an invasive species in Florida, they are similar to the much smaller Purple Gallinule. The coloration of the Legs, beak and forehead shield make them easy to distinguish from the Gallinule, they are also about 3 times the size. It is believed that they escaped from local bird keepers during hurricane Andrews in 1992. View my previous upload for comparison.
