S.O.S. REMAR SE PONE EN MARCHA TRAS EL TERREMOTO DE ECUADOR
El programa S.O.S. REMAR se ha puesto en marcha en la República del Ecuador tras el grave terremoto que ha devastado la zona norte del país
Misioneros y voluntarios de REMAR ya trabajan con los damnificados.
La ONG REMAR ha pasado a la acción en la República de Ecuador tras el grave terremoto del pasado sábado activando de inmediato el programa S.O.S. REMAR a través del que se está ayudando en el rescate de las personas atrapadas en los escombros, dando alimentación y ropa y procurando alojamiento a los damnificados.
Los misioneros y voluntarios de la ONG en el país encabezados por el director de la Asociación Miguel Mate se desplazan a la zona de emergencia y ponen en marcha una campaña de recogida de alimentos, menaje de cocina, carpas, colchonetas, mesas, ropa para clima cálido y todo lo necesario para la puesta en marcha y mantenimiento de un campamento base.
Ecuador se ha movilizado con todos sus recursos para hacer frente a la catástrofe desencadenada por el terremoto de 7,8 grados en la escala de Richter de este sábado en la costa norte del país. Ya hay 272 muertos y 2.068 heridos, además de un número indeterminado de desaparecidos.
Con la luz del día salieron a relucir las destructivas consecuencias de la sacudida en las provincias afectadas, en especial las de Manabí y Esmeraldas, declaradas en emergencia por el Gobierno junto a las de Guayas, Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Los Ríos y Santa Elena. Además, el estado de emergencia rige en el conjunto del país, que comienza a hacer acopio de medicinas, agua, mantas, carpas y alimentos para hacerlos llegar a lugares como Pedernales y Manta, dos de los puntos más castigados.
El terremoto se produjo a las 18.58 hora local del sábado (23.58 GMT), entre los balnearios costeros de Cojimíes y de Pedernales, en la provincia de Manabí y colindante con la vecina Esmeraldas, que también sintió el impacto de las réplicas. Descartado el riesgo de tsunami, la búsqueda y rescate de supervivientes se convirtió en la principal prioridad para las autoridades, que hicieron constantes llamamientos a la calma y a la unidad mientras aseguraban que lo primero es atender a los damnificados.
Los equipos de rescate buscan supervivientes entre los escombros, que dan a lugares como Pedernales, en el epicentro del desastre, el aspecto de un lugar castigado por un bombardeo, como lo describió el ministro del Interior, José Serrano.

This is the First Progress Report of Pacific Women, which provides a snapshot of the program’s achievements and challenges in its first three years of operation. All 14 Pacific Islands Forum countries have received some form of support through Pacific Women.
Since its inception in 2012, Pacific Women has supported 12,897 women and girls to access crisis support services, 1,716 women to undertake financial literacy training and 563 women obtain formal qualifications. The inaugural report showcases some of the 90 activities that have been implemented across 14 Pacific Island countries in partnership with Pacific governments and communities as well as multilateral and regional organisations.
The report was launched in in December 2015 by the Hon Steven Ciobo, Australia’s (former) Minister for International Development and the Pacific, and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat Deputy Secretary General and Pacific Women Advisory Board Member, Ms Andie Fong Toy.

This is the business end of the first stage of the Apollo program's Saturn V rocket. Boeing built these stages to include five Rocketdyne F-1 engines that collectively burned 5 tons per second of liquid oxygen and kerosene to produce a total of 7,500,000 pounds of thrust at liftoff. That put the Apollo astronauts at 4.5 xg during the first 2.5 minutes of launch. That would be uncomfortable! This machine first flew in 1967 and is still one of man's most incredible inventions. I took this shot lying down.

Following 50 years of providing educational access and opportunity for low-income and educationally disadvantaged students throughout California, the Education Opportunity Program hosted a conference from September 7-10 in Long Beach, CA.
Staff, alumni, supporters and students from across the state gathered for a four-day long conference to celebrate the program’s 50th Anniversary milestone and the works to expand access to higher education among marginalized communities.

In June 2012, Bastrop Main Street Program’s Entrepreneur-Ready Leadership Team was responsible for Bastrop being only the second city in Texas to be awarded the designation of an “Entrepreneur-Ready Community” by the Texas Center for Rural Entrepreneurship.
As a part of this project and in partnership with Bastrop High School Business Department, student finalists presented their business plans for a start-up business in Bastrop to a panel of judges on May 2, 2013. Students were vying for over $850 in scholarship money.
