This happened near our farm. It burned about 180 acres of a neighbors pasture land. Fortunately there were no buildings affected and the wind was very light so it didn't jump the road.

On Saturday, April 27 a wildfire burned through Grasslands National Park. The fire was started on private land and burned into the West Block of GNP. The wind was blowing at 70 km per hour and pushed the fire across the landscape, burning across the Frenchmen River valley and the surrounding hills. The fire started up at about 11:00 am and burned into the night until the air temperature and humidity dropped and the wind died down. The fire was then brought under control. The fire was completely driven by the wind. It crossed stubble field, a highway and one of the wider gravel roads in the area before burning into the park.

The fire ran inside the park for about 20 km. The width of the burn varied from between half a kilometre to 5 kilometres.
