This is the Paulding Quarry in far-northwestern Ohio. The quarry opened in 1949 and the rocks are used to make cement on-site. The target unit is the Middle Devonian Dundee Limestone.
The upper part of the quarry wall seen here consists of interbedded fossiliferous limestones and shales of the Middle Devonian Silica Formation. The fossils are typical mid-Paleozoic marine invertebrates such as brachiopods, bryozoans, corals, crinoids, and trilobites. Below the Silica is the Dundee Limestone, which lacks interbedded shales.

Uploaded these images at work, as Ann and I still have no power. As I sad previously, it could have been a lot worse for us! These folks lost a lot more than power. I took these photos as we drove to Ohio yesterday to visit Ann's father in a nursing home that had just limited power from generators.

Doug Goyings, a 5th generation farmer in northwestern Ohio, received a Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant in 2023 to install a 288 panel solar array at his family grain farm, meeting 100 percent of the farm's energy needs and saving money that he can re-invest back into the operation. Dana Leroy Hudnall, son of Charles Jackson and Orpha Golda (Chaney) Hudnall, was born 17 May 1927 in Glouster, Ohio and died 5 Jun 1990 in Paulding, Ohio. He was married twice. On 11 May 1946, in Camden, North Carolina, he married Nancy Marie Adkins (1926-2003). This marriage ended in divorce on 27 Aug 1970 in Defiance, Ohio. They had two children: Dana Leroy II (1952-2016) and Sheryl Natalie. On 31 Oct 1970, in Defiance, Ohio, he married Margaret Louise Pfahler (1935-1999). Dana and Margaret are buried in Highland Memory Gardens, Waterville, Ohio.

Located to the west of the old 1852 Newberry County Courthouse, on Newberry's town square, this monument was erected ca. 1921 using the designs of sculptor John Paulding.

Newberry, South Carolina is a charming town located to the northwest of Columbia where the Upland region of the state meets the Piedmont. It is home to Newberry College.
Wild blueberry flowers (Vaccinium sp., possibly V. fuscatum). Unlike Elliott's Blueberry, which I have been finding on sandy creek bottoms, this bush was in a upland location. Pickett's Mill State Historic Site, Paulding County, Georgia.
