Macro Mondays Theme Book

My son is a voracious reader. He studied English Literature at Uni and his room is stuffed full of books. This particular specimen is a Penguin Classic by Jane Austen - Sense and Sensibility and seems to be destined for the charity shop - I don't think he likes Jane Aistin 😱

Definitely fits within the groups size regulations. I forgot to measure at the time. Have since tried to reproduce and I think frame is around 4-5cm in width.

Happy Macro Monday! 😊📚

Thanks for taking time to comment, fave and look at my work. I really appreciate.

It isn't even mid-December and we have had half a dozen hoarfrost mornings already. I've gone rushing out to the wild prairie a few times, and other days I've done a walk around the village. On one of those morning walks, I noticed a lilac bush, its leaves and branches heavily coated with glittering frost. Very beautiful.

Tadpoles were swimming around in the ephemeral pools in Page Meadows in early July -- they're frogs by now.

Hope you are enjoying a great weekend. Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

Wandering among the slickrock formations always provides some amazing formations created by wind and water. Near Page, Arizona.

“That is life, isn’t it? Fate. Luck. Chance. A long series of what-if’s that lead from one moment to the next, time never pausing for you to catch your breath, to make sense of the cards that have been handed to you. And all you can do is play your cards and hope for the best, because in the end, it all comes back to those three basics.

Fate. Luck. Chance.”

Four leaf clover between the pages of a cookbook (that's where I keep them... and there are a lot of them in there!) For Macro Monday's theme... the space in between.

Despite the mixed bag of weather we've been getting lately - and a general feeling that the bird migration has been slowed by the cold nights and a couple of surprise snowfalls - there's no doubt that the spring resurgence of life on the northern prairie is underway. Therefore, over the next few days, we'll look at some signs of spring in and around Grasslands NP.

First up, this Black-tailed Prairie Dog with a mouthful of dried grass. The little rodents have been foraging now for several weeks, replacing fat reserves lost over the winter. I've watched them digging roots and clipping last year's grass, but recently they've been adding a little fresh salad to their diet.

Endless entertainment for a photographer visiting dogtown...

The temperate rainforest in the Liffey River valley is very dense along Pages Creek. Very Thomas Struth. Mainly Nothofagus (southern beech) on the creek line with Eucalyptus and Blackwood on the slope behind. It looks almost tropical, although the temperature was 1 degree celsius that morning.

When I find loose book pages, I like to try to find out what book they came from. This is "A Kind of Magic, an Autobiography" by Edna Ferber (1963)

Well, 2024 is ending. Is it with a sense of relief, like Thank Fv%£ for that? Didn't so many of us just struggle to exist through the year. I know we worked very hard through the summer months but gained so much in warmth, happiness in smiles with people from all around the world. And we finished on a high with a large family gathering at Christmas. But the year was mainly a washout in terms of weather. We were grateful for a splash of glorious springlike weather early on and a late hoorah of sunshine in September. But a shadow covered the world thoughout the year, and hangs over us still. The future seems bleak in many ways and yet we are supposed to go into 2025 with hope and optimism: politically, geo-politically, economically, racially and culturally. For me, 2024 will end on a high if our 10 week old granddaughter is able to return her West Highland home from a dash visit to see a paediatrician specialist in hospital, a three hour journey away over what are likely to be snowy mountain roads within the coming hours. I just hope and pray 2025 makes us all, friends and family, happier with a healthy and prosperous New Year
