If you decide to travel along this highway into the bowels of the Universe, carry enough fuel to cover the billions of light years ahead of you. You won't find a place to refuel. When you have travelled this distance without finding anything, not even a little bit of intelligent life and you reach the far reaches of the Universe... don't be scared... there's nothing there, either. Only the "nothing". Or since everything is cyclical, perhaps you have returned to the place where you started, full of wisdom from your long trip. It's probably better to look for intelligent life on Earth, but it's also very likely that you'll have a hard time finding it. Don't worry about not understanding the Universe or the reason for its existence... you're not Einstein, but one day you'll understand that... The Universe is wounded, but it still has infinity ahead of it. It still has you and me. Merry Christmas to all and to the infinite Universe that is within you.

Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts VI–IX
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond", was written as a tribute to Syd Barrett, one of the founders of Pink Floyd. He was also known as "The Crazy Diamond Syd". Barrett was a very creative musician and is considered one of the rock icons, with a strong influence on many artists, very especially to David Bowie. Syd Barrett is a key piece to understand the evolution of rock in the 70s.. Excessive drug use, especially LSD, caused him serious mental health problems. Syd Barrett died in 2006 at the age of 60. Always shine diamond.
The Universal is a science fiction song written as a tribute to two films by film director Stanley Kubrick. In the video, the Blur members wear outfits similar to Alex and his gang of thugs, the protagonists of the movie "A Clockwork Orange." The image used for the cover of the single alluded to what is possibly Kubrick's best film: "2001: To Space Odyssey."
We haven't changed that much in 300,000 years of evolution.

Nadat ik op zondag de GATX keteltrein van Aachen-West naar Gent-Zeehaven had gereden met de Clockwork 186 423, moest ik deze trein een dag later naar Kluizendok-Noord brengen in de haven van Gent. 20 lege wagons moesten daar uitgewisseld worden met 22 volle wagons die klaar stonden op de terminal.

Voor de werkdagen 1 en 2 juni 2021 werd de agenda leeggeveegd c.q. overleggen verplaatst om ruimte te maken voor een korte treinenspottrip naar België. Hoofddoel was het ballastvervoer tussen Quenast en Somain met als trekkracht de klassiekers van de serie 67400 van SNCF Fret. Deze fraaie locomotieven rijden waarschijnlijk 11 juni voor het laatst voor deze treinen. In de zomer wordt ECTS ingevoerd op de lijn L96 wat het einde betekent voor de inzet van de BB 67400 op deze lijn.
Op dinsdagochtend 1 juni werd al in de zeer vroege uurtjes vanuit het hoge Noorden van Nederland vertrokken naar het Zuiden van België. Daar werden een aantal fraaie stekken bij Braine-Le-Comte en Soignies bezocht. Op laatstgenoemde stek konden we met een uurtje vertraging de fraaie trein vastleggen. Daarna werd de lijn Tubize-Quenast bezocht waar ook nog een mooie ballasttrein van Infrabel werd gefotografeerd.
Halverwege de middag zou de ballasttrein met de blauwe BB 67400 voorop langs één van de mooie fotopunten bij Neufvilles komen. Om de tussentijd ook nog nuttig te besteden werd een fotostek bij Braine-Le-Comte opgezocht. Daar kwam een fraaie goederentrein door en oudgediende NMBS 2730 met een reizigerstrein.
Op vrijdag 9 januari 2009 zijn de 6473 + 6462 + 6420 van Railion Nederland met ertstrein 48713 onderweg van de Maasvlakte naar Venlo en passeren het besneeuwde Vlierden. De voorste loc is al helemaal in Railionkleur terwijl de tweede en derde nog geel zijn en alleen een sticker op de cabine hebben. De voorste twee locs hebben een Zugfunkantenne. De eerste wagen is geen ertswagen maar een (vierassige) koppelwagen gemaakt van een oude kolen- of ertswagen. De kleppen zijn er uit gehaald zodat erts dat er bij het laden in terecht komt er meteen weer uit valt. De wagens zijn van het (zesassige) type Faals met automatische koppeling. Deze plek is niet meer bruikbaar want volgezet met hekken.
Op 16 Augustus 2025 , kon ik op Trisannerbrucke bij Strengen deze mooie samenstelling vastleggen , de EBFL 1020.18 met een museum trein richting Bludenz...
Op zondag 11 april werd weer richting Friesland gereden. De avond ervoor had ik namelijk bericht gekregen dat er een aantal WINK overbrengingen waren vanuit Groningen naar Leeuwarden.
Nadat ik om 9:15 was aangekomen in Feanwâlden kon het wachten beginnen op de WINK's. Na een uurtje wachten in de auto kwamen er ineens drie stuks aangereden, dat bleek dus rit nummer 1 te zijn.
Terwijl snel de ladder werd beklommen passeren hier WINK's 612+618+607 de eenzame fotograaf bij Feanwâlden.

De herfst loopt qua ongekende kleuren op zijn einde. In no time is deze graag gefotografeerde laan ontdaan van zijn bladeren. De winter staat voor de deur.
