The last one before I leave for a week.
I was gonna use this for the old WWII weapons contest (that SPW one). But i didn't finish on time, so i re-built it in my style.

Seen in a weird area, with loads of big houses but with loads of derelict looking ones too, this is one of my favourite areas of London to explore as it just feels so 'as is', with no massive gentrification rolling in just yet. The house this one is parked outside is massive, yet seems to be used as a dumping ground for the owners work stuff, and a few older cars, an original XR2 for example, but the presence of the owner(s) put me off taking any photo of that!
This hasn't had any tax or MOT since 2011, a shame as somebody clearly put a lot of effort into this as one point.

Not sure the deal here, but back in 2008 RS-18 OCR 1846 is in the lead (possibly dead) and GP9 CN 7208 is second as this light power move heads east through St-Henri at sunset.

After picking up 10 loads of Steel Rods, CN 589 makes its way south on the Vankleek Sub, heading back home to Ottawa.
Long term Coventry resident 4421 is captured in 2012 at Prologis Park. The vehicle still remains in service at Coventry in August 2020, some 17 years since it was first delivered there, and remains one of ten Volvo B7TL/ALX400s allocated to the garage, however is reaching the end of its serviceable life.
In terms of the route, this image captured the final few weeks of operation into Prologis Park for both service 3 and 13/13A. From memory, the 13 extended to the business park/industrial estate during the peaks.
Service 3 and service 4 are long term Holbrooks route numbers. Service 3 continued to Prologis Park every 30 minutes during weekdays, with service 4 continuing to Arena Park (curtailing at Rowleys Green when the shopping centre was closed). The services extended cross-city to Stoke and Binley. Service 3 terminated at Binley Road Morrisons, with service 4 continuing (via the A46 Eastern Bypass) to University Hospital.
In 2012, this diagram changed to provide a Arena Park - City Centre - University Hospital service via Wyken, initially using Mercedes Benz Citaro bendybuses displaced from service 27, becoming service 4. In 2019, the 3/3A route number returned to provide a Arena Park - City Centre - Fenside cross city connection.
In August 2020, the route will largely return to its historical alignment, offering an Arena Park - City Centre - Binley (Warwickshire Shopping Park) connection, albeit at the slightly reduced frequency of every 12 minutes. The hourly tender to extend to University Hospital via Dorchester Way is retained.

In a time when Railroading becomes less and less enjoyable as Overregulation increases daily, shout out to these guys who still take pride in their work, a dying breed of true railroaders. Cndr B.M, Engr N.P, Cndr J.C, Engr K.M And Cndr T.L do their best to keep the cars rolling and the customers happy all year round, keeping the former Ottawa Central Railway Ottawa terminal alive despite repeated attempts by CN to discontinue service.

On my way up to Crawley on 14th July 2022, I just had to stop for coffee at this newly converted ex ice cream van. OCR 287M is a 1974 Bedford CF.

As the sun became more and more low on the horizon, locomotive engineer N.P, ranking #1 on Canadian National Ottawa terminal seniority list, takes an another look at his orders before entering the Beachburg subdivision at Nepean after a long day over Ottawa Valley's last active railroad line.
CN Ottawa terminal sports a five train crew seniority list, all of them having transferred to CN in November 2008 when the wet noodle absorbed Quebec Railway Corporation's operation. Ottawa Central Railway was one of QRC shortline operating numerous branchline out of Canada's capital and N.P took part of it since its creation back in November 1998.
Decline in railroad service since then along with the loose of OCR's biggest customer in Portage du Fort in the 2008-09 economic downturn, made many former OCR jobs combined and even abolished by the new owner. No more shortline-style service to customers. No more mechanical staff assigned to Walkley yard and less and less pride in serving all clients OCR brough back into railroad service after years of deferred service by CN before OCR tenure.
Now, in 2024, the former OCR terminal run with seven customers to serve, usually six days a week. CN apply, every three years, the OCR territory in their abandonment request to the federal government.
Each times, they don't get the approval for, but still manage to get some kind of subventions to operate it. Barely. Badly.
Sadly, that's how railroading work these days.
Hopefully, there's people like N.P who still cares about his work and do much more they asked for in order to get the job done and the remaining customers happy.
Norm began his railroad career on Quebec North Shore & Labrador Railway in the northern city of Sept-Iles,QC. Even at age 71, he never miss a day's of work, enjoying his railroad life, rain or shine, OCR or CN.
