The last one before I leave for a week.
I was gonna use this for the old WWII weapons contest (that SPW one). But i didn't finish on time, so i re-built it in my style.

Seen in a weird area, with loads of big houses but with loads of derelict looking ones too, this is one of my favourite areas of London to explore as it just feels so 'as is', with no massive gentrification rolling in just yet. The house this one is parked outside is massive, yet seems to be used as a dumping ground for the owners work stuff, and a few older cars, an original XR2 for example, but the presence of the owner(s) put me off taking any photo of that!
This hasn't had any tax or MOT since 2011, a shame as somebody clearly put a lot of effort into this as one point.

On my way up to Crawley on 14th July 2022, I just had to stop for coffee at this newly converted ex ice cream van. OCR 287M is a 1974 Bedford CF.
As the sun became more and more low on the horizon, locomotive engineer N.P, ranking #1 on Canadian National Ottawa terminal seniority list, takes an another look at his orders before entering the Beachburg subdivision at Nepean after a long day over Ottawa Valley's last active railroad line.
CN Ottawa terminal sports a five train crew seniority list, all of them having transferred to CN in November 2008 when the wet noodle absorbed Quebec Railway Corporation's operation. Ottawa Central Railway was one of QRC shortline operating numerous branchline out of Canada's capital and N.P took part of it since its creation back in November 1998.
Decline in railroad service since then along with the loose of OCR's biggest customer in Portage du Fort in the 2008-09 economic downturn, made many former OCR jobs combined and even abolished by the new owner. No more shortline-style service to customers. No more mechanical staff assigned to Walkley yard and less and less pride in serving all clients OCR brough back into railroad service after years of deferred service by CN before OCR tenure.
Now, in 2024, the former OCR terminal run with seven customers to serve, usually six days a week. CN apply, every three years, the OCR territory in their abandonment request to the federal government.
Each times, they don't get the approval for, but still manage to get some kind of subventions to operate it. Barely. Badly.
Sadly, that's how railroading work these days.
Hopefully, there's people like N.P who still cares about his work and do much more they asked for in order to get the job done and the remaining customers happy.
Norm began his railroad career on Quebec North Shore & Labrador Railway in the northern city of Sept-Iles,QC. Even at age 71, he never miss a day's of work, enjoying his railroad life, rain or shine, OCR or CN.
