They started in KC and after a long stretch down The Mother Road, the two Indian Riders stopped at the Grand Canyon for a look. Their cycling jackets protected them from the chilly September breeze but still they stayed only long enough for me to make a picture and for them to warm in the morning sun.

I'M BACK!! It's been nearly 4 years since I've undated flickr, non the less, I've decided to start using and uploading again. So in the days to come you will start seeing both new and old shots thrown in together.

Two Dad's. My husband's jacket, now deceased and our son's Harley. Both--the best dads. Happy Father's Day!

The classic motorcycle jacket, specifically the "Double Rider" style, originated in 1928 when Irving Schott of Schott NYC designed the "Perfecto" for Harley-Davidson. The iconic double-breasted leather "Perfecto" is widely considered a masterpiece of the "form follows function" design philosophy.

It was featured in "Beyond Rebellion: Fashioning the Biker Jacket" (2014) held at The Museum at FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology). This exhibition traced the jacket's transition from a strictly utilitarian riding garment into a high-fashion and pop-culture icon. The exhibition, which toured at museums like the Chrysler Museum, gave the jacket full-blown art museum treatment, highlighting its sleek aesthetic born from practical necessity.

Every square inch of the original Perfecto was designed with a specific job in mind. The asymmetric zipper is angled to block the wind from cutting through the jacket and to prevent it from bunching up uncomfortably when the rider crouched over the handlebars. Unzipped but cinched at the waist, the large collar acts as a funnel channeling air into the jacket, allowing the leather garment to be worn on a moving motorcycle in hot weather.

Accordion-like pleats in the shoulders allow riders full range of motion. Extended sleeves and a lowered back keep the rider completely covered while positioned on the motorcycle. Zippers on the sleeves allow the hands to slip through and then the leather tightened around the wrist for wind resistance and so gloves can fit over the sleeves. The thick cowhide provides abrasion resistance in the event of a crash and rain resistance on the open road.

Before World War II, it was strictly functional gear, but after the war, veterans returning to civilian life brought an outlaw biker subculture into the mainstream. The jacket’s cultural shift to a symbol of rebellion occurred when Marlon Brando wore a Schott Perfecto in the 1953 film The Wild One. Following Brando, icons like James Dean popularized the rugged biker look off-screen. By the 1970s and 1980s, the asymmetrical leather jacket was adopted by the punk rock movement, solidifying its place as a staple in both counter-culture and high fashion.

Before anyone asks (and someone will), "Where's the Ducati?" The correct answer is... WHO CARES???

Every year, the Association of International Photography Art Dealers (AIPAD) puts on a show in Manhattan. It's a great place to see a lot of photography.

At the same time, there's another sight to be seen - the world of the gallerists, the buyers, the representatives, the collectors, the consultants and all the others that make the business side of the photography world tick.

I spent a lot of time looking at photographs and shooting ones that I liked, but I will not be posting them to Flickr for obvious reasons.

Still, I found myself, time and again shooting the inhabitants of this world. Those are the shots I plan to post.

This woman was seen in a previous photo as well. I thought, after the fact, that she might be Annie Liebovitz, but a friend who knows better doubts it.

Too often (which is to say most of the time), I did not note the names of the photographers whose images are included in these photos. If they are not credited, it is because I do not know their names. If someone will tell me their names, I will be glad to provide the credit which they richly deserve.

Showcasing impeccable craftsmanship the Eddie Black Motorcycle Biker Jacket is an impressive garment and one that should be admired for its design and structure.. Visit our website to view our full product range. goo.gl/c0sFlm
