While enduring the long flight home from vacation, we passed some huge thunderheads while going through Texas airspace. Their beauty inspired me to pick up my droid phone and snap a few pics.
While originally happy with the usual beautiful cloud formation from this point of view, I started to play with the picture in the PicSay Pro app. Once I applied the mirror effect, I was shocked to see a very convincing nuclear mushroom cloud. Wow...
I further tweaked color, saturation, temperature, and some other things to end up with this rather morbid interpretation of what started out as a beautiful picture of a cloud.
I cleaned up the noise and some artifacting in Lightroom to finish it.
Hasselblad X2D 100C
Hasselblad XCD 120mm ƒ3.5 Macro Lens
Street Photography Test Shot
London, UK
I'm stunned by the quality of the Hasselblad X2D and XCD 120 Macro lens. The colours are like nothing that I've seen from a camera and the micro-details are extraordinary!
This image is one of the first test shots on my barely used Hasselblad X2D 100C together with a used Hasselblad XCD 120mm ƒ/3.5 Macro lens. I'm absolutely blown away by the quality and colours of the few photos that I've already managed to take, but can't wait to go out and take some more. This was a somewhat difficult purchase for me, as I had to sell all of my Leica gear, including my beloved M Monochrom (typ 246) and M-Summicron 50mm (VI), as well as all associated lenses, etc.
It does however mean, through my lifetime of saving up to buy a Leica and subsequent Leicas that even though I'm now Leica-less, I appreciate and still love the brand but I just can't get away from the fact of the even better quality and colour science of Hasselblad. Incidentally and unfortunately, I had to sell my Hasselblad 503 CW too.
Long live the X2D! Hopefully I've made the right decision and can justify the camera with my art.
Currently we're enjoying the tail end of ex-hurricane Bertha.

Protesting the ubiquitous use of mobile phones, the old-timers mobilized to render a veritable London telephone phone booth obstacle course.
This little blossom against the ruby red leaves really caught my eye.

If only Motorola, Nokia or Sony Ericsson would put out a mobile like this. It would be perfect for those who don't get on well with technology and only was a phone that's mobile.
You can't even loose it in your pocket because you don't need to put it in there. It's on wheels and has string. Is there nothing that can't be improved by adding a piece of string?
Anyway this is my idea so nae steelin' it....I'll be watching :oP

Ayatollahs and Calder mobile at Tehran museum of contemporary art, Iran. It is considered to have the most valuable collection of Western modern art outside Europe and the United States, a collection assembled under the patronage of Farah Pahlavi. There is £2.5 billion worth of modern art held at the museum which are kept in a giant safety box. I had the chance to visit the place and see the Picasso, Warhol (a 12 serie of Mao), Ensor, Pollock, Monet, Bacon, Lichtenstein, Leger, Magritte.........The paintings are not exhibited in Iran.
For security reasons, we were locked inside the giant safety box during the visit, and when it was time to leave, the safety box did not want to open.. it took 5 long minutes to open the locker.
The Calder mobile is visible in the entry of the Museum.
