When everything gets on top of you, just put it all in the microwave and bake it for ten minutes or so. NB: Youngest children were not harmed in the creation of this slider. HSS!
For the crust:
2 Pie crusts
Preheat oven to 375 F.
Fit the 2 piecrusts in a deep 10” baking pan
Bake crust for about 10 minutes
For the baked apples:
6 apples
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup fresh or thawed cranberries
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
Stir together ½ cup brown sugar, ½ cup cranberries, cinnamon, nutmeg and a pinch of salt.
Peel apples and scoop cores.
Fill hollows with a heaping tablespoon of cranberry mixture.
Transfer to a 8X8 baking dish. Dot with butter.
Bake in over about 25 minutes (8 minutes in the microwave).
For the pudding batter:
½ cup flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1.2 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of salt
2 Tablespoons unsalted butter
1/3 cup milk
1 large egg and 1 egg white
Whisk together ½ cup flour, baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolk with remaining 1/2 cup sugar until combined.
Whisk in flour mixture, then melted butter and milk.
Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form, then gently fold into batter.
Pour batter into warm crust.
Nestle apples into batter, spooning cranberries and juices on top.
Bake about 30 minutes. Let cool before serving.
Serve with ice cream.

In England the authority to erect beacons originally lay with the King and later was delegated to the Lord High Admiral. The money due for the maintenance of beacons was called Beaconagium and was levied by the sheriff of each county.[6] In the Scottish borders country, a system of beacon fires was at one time established to warn of incursions by the English. Hume and Eggerstone castles and Soltra Edge were part of this network.[7]

Also, a clue to an upcoming image...
Incidentally, this image qualifies as a sort of optical illusion; it sort of messes with the eyes. More specifically, it works as a weak stereogram (thanks to Anna Manolaki for bringing this to my attention) . Basically, if you focus on the center(ish) dot, and then at the same time try to use your peripheral vision to take in the entire image, the dots will seem to almost float off the screen, giving it a 3-D feel. Oh, and if you have time, you should definitely check out more stereograms online--they are bizarre, frustrating and fun! This frustrating part about 'getting' stereograms, however, is training your eyes to 'see' them. You basically have to learn how to see a stereogram.
Also, as Matt Gilley pointed out, you'll see a sphere/bulge as you zoom in and out.

➤ Create a still life containing at least five items that make you happy.
➤ A photo of at least three of those items – set up and photographed in place by YOU – will form the basis of the still life. (Other items may be added digitally.)
➤ One object in your still life must include an image from your photostream (though none of the objects depicted in this image count as separate items in the still life). This can be added in setup or post processing.
➤ A grid of some sort should be integrated into your still life image (checkerboard, plaid pattern, honeycomb, chicken wire, whatever, but not simply parallel lines). This can also be done in setup or post processing.
➤ NO ELECTRONICS WITH SCREENS, including readout screens, like on a microwave. (Other kinds of electronics are okay.)
NOTES: I bought the metal tree sculpture many years ago and it's one of my favorite things. All the other objects in the foreground are natural – eucalyptus bark, various leaves, etc. – that I collected a few years ago when I was doing mixed media/collage work.

Love baked potatoes, but hate preheating the oven and then cooking them for over an hour? Use your microwave, and they'll be ready in...10 MINUTES! Wash potatoes (I cook two at a time), dry, and then pierce all over with a fork; otherwise (no kidding) they'll explode in your microwave. Place them in the microwave on a paper plate, regular plate, or even a paper towel. Set your power to 80% and your cook time to four minutes. When done use an oven mitt (potatoes are hot) to turn each potato over and then once again set power to 80% and cook for another four minutes. When done let stand in the microwave for a minute, then carefully remove (they will be blistering hot inside and out) and enjoy. Pictured above I slathered mine with butter, salt and pepper, parmesan cheese, and salsa. Once cooked you could also use them to make mashed potatoes, or potato salad. Enjoy!
When you have a full fridge, no cake saver, and need to safely store a cake from marauding critters, you store that confection in the microwave - right?.....

A break from Hong Kong for the moment and some more recent photography - a man with a microwave oven on his head in London, not something you see every day!
Some photography from London in January 2024 - a bit of street photography; some under-street photography (a Knights Templar altar in a crypt); and an unwelcome and dangerous encounter.
You are looking at the smoking gun of the Big Bang, known as the Cosmic Microwave Background. This is the oldest light in the universe, originating from the hot dense plasma which filled all of space at the beginning of time. This light is extremely smooth and uniform, with only exceedingly small variations when looking in one direction or another. Today, the temperature of this light is just 2.73 degrees above absolute zero, with most of space being within about 1 part in 100,000 of this temperature. The contrast of this image has been greatly enhanced, so as to only look at the variations in the light. Blue areas are colder than average, while red are hotter.
