So I've been very frustrated lately with photography and hit a bit of a low when it comes to producing images. Also, to top it all off, Flickr is now a blocked site at work - NOT COOL! Anyway, I'm very pleased to now be the proud owner of a Canon EOS 5D and as most people with Full Frame / High ISO camera's would do, I immediately cranked up the ISO to it's max to test the noise levels. So what can I say: Looking at the image above which is shot as is straight out the camera (no post processing what-so-ever) - I must say that I'm pretty pleased by it's outcome... the problem I now sit with is that I need to fork out more money for a compatible wide angle lens, most probably the Canon 17-40 f4 L USM... "SIGH - Does it ever stop?"

I was reminiscing about Canada today and listening to Amanda Marshall sing Dark Horse. I have always liked that song:

And it got me thinking about something else namely the Brunswick House in Toronto. That was quite a night that I shall never forget. A friend, John, who lived in Toronto took us out for an evening and we ended up in the Brunswick House. It was a very famous old building that was being used as a nightclub that featured many revered entertainers. The night we went Jeff Healey was performing. He was a very famous vocalist/guitarist. He was blind. When he started singing I approached him because there was no stage, he was up against the windows on the right side of the building. I don't remember what he sang, that was 35 years ago, but what I did notice was how intensely he was perspiring. The place was packed and the temperature must have been in the 80s in the venue so it was a tad uncomfortable. I could have reached out and touched him, but knew it wasn't appropriate since I might startle him. I would have loved to have spoken to him, but he was doing a set and that wasn't possible. I shall never forget him, he was such an amazing entertainer. To say I was mesmerized would be an understatement. I shall never forget that evening, it is one of my fondest memories!
