How do I know they are merlot grapes? The sign at the end of the row said so.

SSC - Abstract Nature

For this challenge I have taken this shot of a trailing Geranium, Merlot, in my garden. I have used ICM to get an abstract effect. Instead of moving the camera I zoomed in on the flower during exposure trying to keep the camera still.

We planted this redbud tree years ago, but I never noticed these deep burgundy-red pods before. They are quite pretty. And I have always loved the kaleidoscope of fall colors that appear all summer long on this tree, especially in back lighting - HBW!

The dahlia garden at the Adelaide Botanic Gardens only 3 weeks after full bloom has been severely pruned back. Only the support stakes are left at eye level.

We've had this bottle of white merlot for a while (a leftover from Shore Week), but finally cracked it open. It's really tasty--light and refreshing but with the subtle hint of a red wine. We had it with pizza last night, roast chicken tonight.

Howdy folks, how's the New Year treating you? I hope this photo of mine finds you well. Hope you have a blessed one. I am still working like a energizer bunny .. still going .. and going .. and going ...

Jeez! I don't know if you're supposed to drink this stuff, or use it to clean hands.

(048/365) I'm hardly a wine connoisseur, often it's the label that attracts me to a bottle, as in this case today. I bought a bottle of this South African red to accompany our roast lamb dinner tomorrow. On offer at €8 in Tesco, my kind of price :)

Merlot likes fashion and makeup, and sometimes she likes to wear dark outfits (like, all black). But being cute is also always important! She can be hard to deal with, she's bossy, impatient, and doesn't really care about others. But she is not a bad person.

Ripening in the late summer sunshine

I personally consider the 1986 Marilyn (Monroe) Merlot label to be the best of what I call the early releases. Early releases because they featured a foil seal over the cork that was embossed with a grape cluster design, and which can be seen in a photo in the comments section. In 1991 the foil was sealed with a "kiss", which I'll share in a photo later in the series.

The dress Marilyn is wearing here was actually gold lame` material although it doesn't appear that way in the label. In the spring of 1953 Marilyn Monroe received Photoplay's plaque for "the fastest rising star in 1952". For the award ceremony she borrowed this spectacular gown that designer Bill Trevilla created for the movie "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and which literally became Marilyn's own. After the ceremony, which she appeared two hours late, her hip-swinging departure was so provocative that pandemonium broke out in the audience.

See below link for a little better photo of MM in the gold lame` dress:

Red - my favourite colour of wine!:) For Macro Mondays - HMM

1987 was the only year in the Marilyn Merlot series that the wine was produced in France as can clearly be seen on the bottom of the label. All other years were produced in the United States. Two dates are also clearly visible, being 1987 (the vintage date) and the copyright date (1989 the year this became available). As previously mentioned, all wines in the series were issued two years after the vintage date. Hence this bottle dated 1987 was actually issued in 1989. Which continues to this day with the 2005 Marilyn Merlot released at the end of 2007.

The photo used in the label is one of a number of publicity stills taken by photographer Richard Avedon for the 1957 movie "The Prince and the Showgirl" that Marilyn co-starred with Lawrence Olivier, who also directed the movie. The original photo is also part of the Kobal Collection.
