Jane got out this afternoon and hid from me under my shed for a while. I was able to attract her attention with her favorite toy and then bring her back inside.
She proceeded to run around the house like a possessed cat before she hopped up on the coffee table which she knows is off-limits. She is seen here disagreeing with my instructions to leave the coffee table.
She just had "bad on the brain" today and was acting out like crazy.

"La Sala cinquecentesca del vecchio ospedale Fatebenefratelli è lunga 43 metri e larga 8, con un quanto mai suggestivo soffitto a cassettoni di legno policromo con motivi floreali (foglie e fiori del melograno).

Allora era obbligatorio per i neo ricoverati confessarsi entro tre giorni, pena l’espulsione, ma i frati del Fatebenefratelli sorvolavano e si limitavano a suggerirlo. La sala era stata realizzata in modo che la luce penetrasse all’interno attraverso le alte finestre che intercalavano gli affreschi, senza che questa colpisse in faccia gli ammalati. Entrando si viene rapiti dalla vastità e dalla luminosità dell’ambiente che è attualmente utilizzato da liceo scientifico Benedetto Croce."

Let's face it now, it isn't everyday we see a genuine example of anti gravity anywhere let alone in agarden is it now? Yet here we have it along with the evidence, and not just any garden - it's in our garden! I know, it's incredible, but its not for sale so don't even go there.
The only other example I can think of is those UFO things that keep turning up on people's phones, but as folks don't believe in those, that makes this little baby unique does it not.
I'll tell you something else, it's totally silent, doesn't make a sound and you can pass your hands all around and underneath it like one of those stage magicians - it doesn't seem to mind. Nor, does it limit itself to any one flowerbed, oh no it moves with it's whims not just the sun, hot border in the morning, vegetable patch in the afternoon - it even followed me into the house one day!
A couple of days after taking this very photo, my wife and I had to pop to the garden centre (we were looking for something inter dimensional) and this little baby kept pace with us for an entire kilometre. It was only as we turned out of our road and my wife put the pedal to the metal that we thought we had lost it - I say 'thought' because when we pulled into the car park at the garden centre about 10 miles away there it was! I don't think anyone else saw it for it was hovering about 50 feet in the air directly over the compost bags, as it did so it slowly rotated and as the sun caught its petals it appeared to change colour - just like one of those bona fide UFOs that don't exist, and when we got home an hour later, there it was, sunning itself next to the garlic. I know, I know, it's incredible, but it isn't for sale so don't even go there....

When I peered out the window this morning and saw that the sky had cleared, it was off to the park in search of a Springtime photo. Found this Orange-crowned Warbler in a cherry tree, got the click, and came home a happy camper 😉

The Orange-crowned Warbler:
Orange-crowned Warblers aren’t the most dazzling birds in their family. These grayish to olive-green birds vary in color geographically and have few bold markings. There’s rarely any sign of an orange crown, which is usually only visible when the bird is excited and raises its head feathers. These busy birds forage low in shrubs, and are one of the few warblers that's more common in the West than the East.
The Pacific Coast Orange-crowned Warblers are the brightest yellow. Found throughout the Rocky Mountains and Great Basin, and along the coast of southern California.
Orange-crowned Warblers begin their spring migration earlier, stay later on the breeding grounds, and winter farther north than most other warblers. Food rather than day length seems to drive their migratory calendar, as they begin to leave the breeding grounds when cold or drought limit supplies of insect prey.
The oldest known Orange-crowned Warbler was at least 8 years, 8 months old when it was photographed in the wild in California in 2018.

Lagos de Covadonga, Asturias, España.
El conjunto de los lagos de Covadonga está formado por dos pequeños lagos, el Enol y el Ercina de origen glaciar situados en la parte asturiana del Parque Nacional de los Picos de Europa, en el macizo occidental de dicha cadena montañosa. Existe un tercer lago, el Bricial, que solo tiene agua durante el deshielo, pero también pertenece al conjunto. En Asturias son conocidos simplemente como los lagos.
Se sitúan en el concejo de Cangas de Onís y se accede a ellos a través de una carretera de 14,5 km que nace en el Real Sitio de Covadonga para llegar en primer lugar al lago Enol, incluyendo también una pequeña carretera que les llevaría hasta el Lago Ercina. Su frecuente uso desde 1983 como final de etapa en la Vuelta ciclista a España ha popularizado internacionalmente el paraje.
La afluencia masiva de turistas, sobre todo aficionados al ciclismo, ha obligado a limitar el desarrollo de pruebas ciclistas en el entorno de Los Lagos. No obstante, la zona cuenta con una infraestructura turística.
La excesiva afluencia de visitas, en especial en temporada alta, también ha supuesto que el acceso en coche a los Lagos esté restringido, pudiendo acceder únicamente utilizando el transporte público habilitado para ello. Los vehículos particulares solo pueden circular a primera hora de la mañana (antes de las 8:30 a.m) y a última de la tarde ( a partir de las 20:00p.m). En temporada baja, no hay rectricciones de acceso con vehículo particular.
En las proximidades del lago Ercina, en Buferrera, hasta 1979 se explotaron minas de hierro, manganeso y mercurio. Las personas que visitan dicho paraje tienen a su disposición un aparcamiento "aparcamiento de Buferrera", un centro de visitantes , un refugio y dos bares restaurante para su disfrute.

Private vehicles can only circulate first thing in the morning (before 8:30 a.m.) and late in the afternoon (after 20:00 p.m.). In low season, there are no access restrictions with a private vehicle.
In the vicinity of Lake Ercina, in Buferrera, iron, manganese and mercury mines were exploited until 1979. People who visit this place have at their disposal a "Buferrera parking" car park, a visitor center, a shelter and two restaurant bars for their enjoyment.

Une année encore riche en émotion ...avec le dénouement de ma bataille juridique. Oui après 8 ans de bataille et de résilience, j’ai gagné le 18 avril 2019, cette journée sera marquante. Retrouver une dignité m’a tant apaisé, instantanément ce fut un stress énorme de moins sur mes épaules et après 8 ans sans aucun revenu récupérer mes prestations fut un baume sur mes plaies.
La maladie est toujours là avec des douleurs qui sont de plus en plus vive mais le stress de la bataille est enfin dernière moi. Je sens une certaine légèreté qui me fait un grand bien.
Un cauchemar qui sans mon chum, ma famille et amis, jamais je n’aurais été capable de survivre. Je serais toujours reconnaissante pour tout ce beau monde que j’aime. Mais je dois donner une mention spéciale à mon amoureux qui a été là et qui est toujours la même si ce n’est pas une partie de plaisir à chaque jour.
L’argent ne fait pas le bonheur et bien je peux vous dire que c’est archi faux. Avoir été sans aucun revenue pendant 8 ans cela ma tellement limité. Je ne peux pas faire de grand voyage à cause de la maladie mais depuis ce printemps je fais des petites escapades avec mon argent. Des petites escapades dans la nature dans notre beau Québec pour y aller faire de la photo et partager ma passion.
Je me dois de revenir sur nos vacances sur la côte nord avec mon amoureux ou je suis tombée en amour avec les macareux sur l’île au perroquet. J’ai pu enfin gâter mon amoureux, ma famille et ami qui mon tant aider pendant toutes ses années.
Découverte de nouvelles espèces d’oiseaux comme le héron vert qui m’a tant gâter. De grand privilège d’être si près de cette faune qui m’apprend tellement et qui m’aide à garder le moral !
D’avoir acheté un kayak pour aller voir les huards seul, se fut un moment mémorable d’avoir réussi à sortir seule pour faire de la photo. Ce n’est pas quelque chose que je peux faire souvent car je vais presque toujours dépendre de mon chum ou de mes amis (car je ne conduis plus depuis plusieurs années) ... pour faire de la photo. Mais j’ai si je peux le faire quelques fois par année et bien je vais être contente.
La cerise sur le sundae est d’avoir gagné deux concours photos quelle belle surprise, une grande reconnaissance, fierté et cela m’a donné davantage confiance en mon talent. Quand tu as un travail qui te valorise cela aide mais étant invalide à la maison ce n’est pas toujours facile de se sentir valorisée. Alors le résultat de ses concours a donné un petit coup de pouce à ma confiance.
La vie a continué de m’apporter son lot de peine et de joie, j’ai vécu une grande peine en cette fin d’année et tente de recoller les morceaux …mais ce fut suivi d’une belle surprise!! une demande en mariage de mon amoureux après plus de 16 ans de vie commune. Et j’ai dit OUI hihihi , mariage intime pour 2020.
Cette image me parle beaucoup pour l'année 2019 et qui va être parfaite pour 2020. Continuer de persévérer, d'être déterminer et de foncer malgré mes limitations.

En las proximidades del lago Ercina, en Buferrera, hasta 1979 se explotaron minas de hierro, manganeso y mercurio. Las personas que visitan dicho paraje tienen a su disposición un aparcamiento "aparcamiento de Buferrera", un centro de visitantes , un refugio y dos bares restaurante para su disfrute.
The set of Covadonga lakes is made up of two small lakes, the Enol and the Ercina, of glacial origin, located in the Asturian part of the Picos de Europa National Park, in the western massif of said mountain range. There is a third lake, the Bricial, which only has water during the thaw, but it also belongs to the whole.In Asturias they are known simply as the lakes.
They are located in the council of Cangas de Onís and are accessed through a 14.5 km road that starts at the Real Sitio de Covadonga to reach Lake Enol first, including also a small road that would take them to Lake Ercina. Its frequent use since 1983 as the end of the stage in the Cycling Tour of Spain has made the place internationally popular.
The massive influx of tourists, especially cycling fans, has forced to limit the development of cycling events in the surroundings of Los Lagos. However, the area has a tourist infrastructure.
The excessive influx of visitors, especially in high season, has also meant that access by car to the Lakes is restricted, and can only be accessed using public transport enabled for this. Private vehicles can only circulate first thing in the morning (before 8:30 a.m.) and late in the afternoon (after 20:00 p.m.). In low season, there are no access restrictions with a private vehicle.
In the vicinity of Lake Ercina, in Buferrera, iron, manganese and mercury mines were exploited until 1979. People who visit this place have at their disposal a "Buferrera parking" car park, a visitor center, a shelter and two restaurant bars for their enjoyment.

Felisa llega cada mañana antes del amanecer al edificio de oficinas donde trabaja.
Es una mujer afortunada. Nunca le falta trabajo. De 6 a 8 acude a diario a un despacho de abogados de la planda 2.
Los martes y los jueves de 8 a 10 trastea por una oficina llena de locos que tiran dardos, juegan al futbolín, se pasean en bermudas y dicen llamarse algo así como una Start up. Están en el 5.
A esa misma hora, pero los días alternos, su misión se centra en una ingeniería algo fea y sucia, con empleados algo viejos y grises y unas máquinas reproductoras de planos algo abandonadas y paradas. Porque ahora, le han contado, ya nadie dibuja ni se imprimen planos, ahora es todo a través de una pantalla. Están en la 10.
La agenda de Felisa se va complicando durante el día. Se cruzan los pisos, las oficinas, las empresas. Necesitaría una hoja excel, si es que supiera usarla, para llevar un control. Se limita a usar un papel arrancado de un block de espiral, donde se ha dibujado un cuadrante y que va pegando con un imán de nevera por todas las oficinas por las que transita.
Al final trabaja todos los días en el mismo edificio, de ocho de la mañana a ocho de la noche. Y así desde hace 25 años.
Trabaja sin descanso. Nunca ve la luz del sol. Cuando pierde una oficina, a través del portero de la finca consigue otra.
Esta tarde, escucha una conversación entre secretarias. "¿Has visto la puesta de sol de hoy?". "¡Sí, es increíble!".
Y Felisa mira y remira por la ventana y no ve nada, aunque si percibe que todo se tiñe de rojo. El aire, el cielo, el edificio de enfrente. Todo es rojo. Pero Puesta de sol no ha visto. No sabría decir ni por dónde se pone el sol.

For 'Macro Mondays' theme of 'Behind Glass'
Must have been wondering what to do with the last few sips of wine from Sunday lunch! But this was a challenge I had set myself that fitted in with this week's challenge.
The large flask is just within the 3" MM limit so from that you can work out the size of the stopper in the little bottle!
An interesting manipulation for stiff fingers in getting this assembled and then realising that it was impossible to line everything on a vertical line - the glass has not been molded accuately for that. As a result centering the flask in the squre frame just didn't look right either but, to my eye, a displacement to the right did.
The flask is resting on a piece of thin expanded wrapping foam and back lit with a single lamp.
Very little post processing - just a tad sharpening.

Notice the green tinged feather tips on the black crown. This wouldn't be so prominent in a fall adult male. Also in an adult male the black on the throat would reach the bottom of the lower beak, and this bird has some yellow feathering there. A minority of adult females have a rather full hood, and can look similar to males. Notice the beak is more brown in fall birds of this species as opposed to a black bill in spring birds. Many warbler species sport a lighter bill color in the fall.
This young bird is in fresh fall plumage. Adult birds replace all feathers prior to migration, which is a good thing since many are worn from frequent trips thru vegetation to feed young. First fall birds like the one above don't replace wing or tail feathers this first molt, which is not so crucial as the feathers are fairly new anyhow. This partial molt of first fall birds often allows one to see what is called a molt limit. This is perhaps easier to see in birds with wing bars, but the alula, and adjacent primary coverts can give a clue as well. If not sure where the alula and primary coverts are in the image above a quick google search, or a glance at a bird guide should help. You can see how dark the alula and primary coverts are in comparison to the fresh olive plumage directly adjacent and closer to the face.

Obvodny Canal (Russian: Обводный канал, lit. Bypass Canal) is the longest canal in Saint Petersburg, Russia, which in the 19th century served as the southern limit of the city. It is 8 kilometres (5 mi) long and flows from the Neva River near Alexander Nevsky Lavra to the Yekaterinhofka not far from the sea port. The canal was dug in 1769–80 and 1805–33. By the late 19th century, after to the Industrial Revolution, it had effectively become a sewer collecting wastewater of adjacent industrial enterprises. Eventually the canal became shallow and no longer navigable. The banks of the canal are lined with granite.

Sunrise at a 5 star lodge accommodation near Te Anau. My wife found a deal on the internet! You might notice the "grain" (noise) where I extracted as much shadow detail as I could from a single RAW file (and forgot to turn down the ISO after astro shots the night before).
