Kansas is in Alberta after all. Playing around with the gradient tool in Lightroom taking part of the scene there into B&W.

Yoder has a large mennonite community and it is not uncommon to see horse drawn buggies on the highways. They have an excellent restaurant called the Carriage House. www.yoderkansas.com

Sunrise in Kansas City just after the autumnal equinox.

I had posted an at image at dusk of the northern face of the Kauffman Center for Performing Arts a few weeks ago, this one taken at night also of the northern face show how the lighting on the silvery segmented stainless steel and acid etched limestone colored precast perpendicular concrete walls create an other-worldly look. The Kauffman Center for Performing Arts is actually two venues, a 1600 seat concert venue designed by a collaboration of Moshe Safdie and the eminent Japanese acoustician Yasuhisa Toyota and an 1800 seat horseshoe configured hall for ballet, opera and theater. The colors that are reflected on the surfaces can change, for example while the Kansas City Chiefs made their 2023 Super Bowl run this year and after their thrilling victory, it was lit in Chief’s Red in a show of support. #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot #tamractales @mpbcom @kehcamera @panasonic @lumix #microfourthirds #lumixlx100ii @visitkc

If you look closely, you can see I got caught in a small microburst of rain while shooting the sunset on Monday night at Grinter Farms in Tonganoxie, Kansas. A few more days of images from the set I took of this year’s sunflower crop.

traveling Hwy54 in the Flint Hills region between Eureka and El Dorado, Kansas.

After posting lots of animals, I went back to the archives and found some pix from my days of traveling to Kansas to visit my grandbaby. I saw lots of rustic old barns and nice landscapes there. It's a pretty place!
