Unique de l’art almoravide dans sa propre capitale, à savoir : Marrakech, La Koubba Almoravide est une tour située dans le centre de la Médina, très proche du Musée de Marrakech et en face de la mosquée Ben Youssef. La Koubba Almoravide est un bâtiment enfoncé dans le sol. Elle vient tout juste d’être restaurée. Espace recouvert d’une coupole. La partie supérieure, dont l’enduit est strié de façon étrange. En s’approchant plus, on se rend compte que les bases de la construction se trouvent à quelques mètres au dessous du niveau de la ville actuelle. Ceci est dû à l’ancienneté de son architecture datant du XIIème siècle. L’édifice était à la base un bassin d’ablutions d’une très ancienne mosquée Almoravide. Même si, de part sa façade extérieure, l’édifice ne parait pas très attrayant, le décor intérieur est extrêmement surprenant. Constituée d’un mélange de pierres et de briques les architectes se sont servis de la brique en saillie comme décor extérieur de la coupole. Le décor dégage une impression de grande légèreté due au mélange des différentes décorations : on y trouve des arcs brisés, ce sont les arcs en forme d’ogive, et des arcs outre-passés, ce sont ceux qui se rétrécissent sur le bas. Toutes ces figures sont entremêlées à des rosaces finement ajourées et recouvertes d’une ornementation florale très riche.
