A tight crop and re-edit of one of my jockey photos resulted in.... someone's nightmare. Maybe it's a poster for some show on Netflix? I dunno.... I think I'll save the settings as a preset, and threaten to use it on portraits of my friends. :-))))
You make up horror to help you cope with the real ones..

A Rook portrait. Associated with grizzly horror films soundtracks. Many think the sound is from crows but alas it is the rook that is the background scary effect! Yet such a handsome bird.
A colleague of mine, philosophy professor, was pestered by his students that he ought to look into himself when searching for answers. His reply was, that he had done so. "There is nothing in it", he said. It is a frightening answer. I would modify it by saying that everything that is in me I have put there myself - either actively by doing so, or passively, by allowing it to be put there. And that is frightening as well. To be fully responsible without knowing the answers, perhaps not even to be aware of the right kind of questions. This is a dilemma we should not run away from. Pseudo-certainties will not only not help, they are dangerous as well. But we can talk about the human dilemma. Perhaps agree on ways forward. "Nobody is perfect" is a helpful assumption. Knowing this is what makes us human. Leica M Mono, plus Leitz Elmar 4/135 at F8 (focus achieved in Live View).
You fucked up when you fell asleep
See I'm the dude that you find in your nightmare
Strap in, remember what happened on Elm Street?
Deadly - who you think gave Freddy the idea?
Yeah, I guess I’m a freak
That must be why on Halloween Michael Myers go and dress up as me
Happy Halloween.

………Quite a challenge for Macro Monday’s theme ‘Halloween’ I thought this week! Not Halloween per se, but keeping it within the confines of a credit card!! For scale, the Pumpkins are Pyracantha berries and both the skull & ghost are less than two inches tall. I cut the ghost out of piece of card and did an in-camera double exposure - one with ghost & then without to make him more ‘ghostly’ (I hope). BTW the carved pumpkin I did in Lightroom cloning some black cloth from behind!! Happy Macro Monday & ‘stay safe’. Alan:-)……

My life, as you know, has turned into quite a personal horror story for me over the past few months and that comes on top of the much longer slow-burning horror of living with C-PTSD.
Some of you have expressed a wish to help, financially, through this difficult time.
I have been reluctant to make the means available because I don't want to appear to be begging for help.
My thoughts are changed somewhat by something I was told today. That I share my "extraordinary" work here and that I enjoy encouraging and receiving encouragement from others. That perhaps there are many people here that would like to continue to see my photographs and help me to continue to share them.
When I am able I will obviously consider ways and means to rebuild my photography career from it's 2019 "pre-pandemic" peak. In the meantime I face costs that I can ill-afford just to maintain my love of photography. The biggest crux being expensive Internet options while I am in temporary accommodation.
With this in mind I have created a "Donate" function through PayPal.
You are not paying for a service or product. I guarantee nothing other than the promise that your donations will be used for my photography - to keep me online, to allow me to take new work, edit old work and to share it with you.
I don't expect you to donate and I will not favour those that do donate over those that do not.
Any donations, however large or small, will be very gratefully received. Please know, however, that I am equally grateful just to know that you care and that I am in your thoughts. You can donate with the link below:
Take care my Flickr friends.
