Sidewalk Heroes is a series where I use the pavement opposite to my home as a stage to photograph the passers-by in their everyday life.
Mi favorite fictional hero, Captain America. This is a 6" action figure toy that I have from years ago. I want to share this song/video about his memories on war. Is one of my favorites songs, dedicated to the character in the movie, Steve Rogers.

The Commando Memorial is situated about a mile from Spean Bridge village in Lochaber in the Scottish Highlands and is dedicated to the men of the original British Commando Forces during World War Two. It overlooks the training areas of the commando training depot at Achnacarry Castle.
Taken in April with some late snow on the hills.

Heroes' Square is one of the major squares in Budapest, Hungary, noted for its iconic statue complex featuring the Seven chieftains of the Magyars and other important Hungarian national leaders, as well as the Memorial Stone of Heroes, often erroneously referred as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The square lies at the outbound end of Andrássy Avenue next to City Park (Városliget). It hosts the Museum of Fine Arts and the Műcsarnok. The square has played an important part in contemporary Hungarian history and has been a host to many political events, such as the reburial of Imre Nagy in 1989. The sculptures were made by sculptor Zala György from Lendava.
Hősök tere (Heros' Square) is surrounded by two important buildings, Museum of Fine Arts on the left and Palace of Art (or more accurately Hall of Art) on the right. On the other side it faces Andrássy Avenue which has two buildings looking at the square – one is residential and the other one is the embassy of Serbia (former Yugoslavian embassy where Imre Nagy secured sanctuary in 1956).
Nizhny Novgorod, Russia
The boat “Hero” installed on the pedestal on the Nizhne-Volzhskaya embankment is one of the iconic places in Nizhny Novgorod. The history of this vessel is quite interesting. Contrary to the official version, it was manufactured in 1899 at Swedish shipyard “Motala Mekaniska Verkstads AB” and was originally named Finn. Operation began in a very mundane way - as a tugboat in the "Nobel Brothers Oil Production Partnership" in the Russian Empire. Then came the time of dramatic historical events. Already as a combat vessel, the former tugboat took part first in the events of the Civil War (1918 - 1922) and then in the WWII, including the defense of Stalingrad. She received the current name "Hero" in 1944. After the end of the war the vessel again worked as a tugboat in Nizhny Novgorod, and in 1985 became a well-known monument at the foot of the Chkalov Stairs.

Эксплуатация началась весьма буднично - в качестве буксира в "Товариществе нефтяного производства братьев Нобель" в Российской Империи. Затем пришла пора драматических исторических событий. Уже в качестве боевого судна бывший буксир принимает участие сперва в Гражданской войне, а после - в Великой Отечественной войне, в т.ч. в обороне Сталинграда. Имя "Герой" он получил в 1944 году. После окончания войны судно вновь работало буксиром в Нижнем Новгороде, а в 1985 году стало памятником у подножия Чкаловской лестницы, теперь уже легендарным.

I got more animals to showcase. However, the response that I'm getting with the animals was not favorable and I can easily get bored with a series especially when it lacks support from my friends.
So, I'm back with my first love. The Wheels.
I started working with this picture that's made up of 7 exposures on Photomatix. First, I tried my old extreme style that made me known to the HDR world. I was praised and in some quarters, got stoned too. However, I was not happy with the old result and decided to go for a more subtle & realistic looking HDR.
Then, I loaded the HDR image to Photoshop CS2 to work on levels, saturations, curves, etc. And still, I was not at all satisfied.
Finally, I decided to play with my imagination. The funny thing is that I came out with something HDR is not supposed to be. HDR in my opinion is a flat image where highlights and shadows are on equal terms. I'm not a proponent of the flat HDR image where the shadows are almost eliminated. I love my image to be composed of lights and shadows. So, this is the final image where I wish will win your most coveted approval.
In summary, this is 1/3 Photomatix, 1/3 Photoshop and 1/3 KK Touch.
