Smile On Saturday: "Handle" theme
It's a carved wooden cane that my father had that has the words "Carib Reserve Dominica" written on the handle. It's a pretty cool cane with a woven covering on the shaft. I have no idea where or how my dad got it, as I don't believe that he was ever in the Caribbean island country of Dominica.
I did some quick research and found the following: "The Carib Reserve, now known as the Kalinago Territory, is a 3,700-acre district in Dominica set aside for the Kalinago people, the indigenous inhabitants of the island." The name change of the district occurred in 2015.

Thank you to all my fans who so kindly fav and comment and award my pics, wishing you all an amazing weekend filled with loads of love, laughter and fun ♥♥
I envy the birds high up in the trees
They live out their lives so purposefully
I envy the spiders, the squirrels and seeds
They all find their way automatically
But in this handmade heaven, I come alive
Bluebirds forever colour the sky
In this handmade heaven, we forget the time
'Cause birds of a feather fly together
I carry along a feel of unease
I want to belong like the birds in the trees
I sit on my own, look over the town
The skyscrapers glow like they'll never fall down
And I could no longer ignore
The ivy growing tall
This life don't suit me anymore
The writing's on the wall
(Bluebirds forever) Birds of a feather
(Bluebirds forever) Fly together
(Bluebirds forever) In this strange, strange weather
(Bluebirds forever) In this handmade heaven
In this handmade heaven, in this handmade heaven

As I have bought new wool for felting, so was looking for ideas on the net, and I think I like this best. Found it on Lithuanian site www.smagu.visiems.lt
Hoping to manage to create something like that myself...

Sempre fui apaixonada por corujas. Desde cedo.
Estas primeiras, de feltro, feitas por mim, vieram da gentileza da Ana, do BordadosdeAna, que me deu a dica de onde encontrar os moldes!
The mineral dress for Blythe. This was my favorite of this batch, made with super delicate gauze and hand dyed cotton and French lace. I only have 1 left of this dress.

...handmade by moi out of zippers!
There was one of the facebook things going around where you had to promise to make up to 5 handmade gifts in 2011 for the people who commented on your post. Well it's Dec 9 and I am finished! lol... This one is yours Charlie!
p.s. did I mention how much I dislike sewing!!!
oh and the measurements in case you want to make it?
1 x 8 inch length of zipper
6 x 4 inch lengths
6 x 3 inch lengths
The centre is made from the 8 inch length. Sew a running stitch along the length of it near the edge of the fabric and gather so it curls up.
The petals are made similarly with a little gather in the middle and then sewing them in a petal shape.
Then sew all the petals and the centre together trying not to stab yourself too many times.
I recommend red zippers as it hides the blood better!
