I don't know how these Blue Jays find out so quickly that peanuts have been tossed out for them. They show up immediately to snatch them up and within minutes, the peanuts are gone. You have to be quick with your snap because they fly away quickly after the pick up.
This photo was taken through my patio door window on one of our colder mornings. You can see some frost that has formed around his eye. The temps have been dipping down to -18°F (-28°C) on/off with windchills at -35°F.
Thank you so much for your visits, faves and comments. Happy Wing Wednesday!

The Herring Gull picked off this unsuspecting Atlantic Puffin and tried to make off with the tasty meal. But to no avail. The puffin, you all will be glad to know, escaped the wily clutches of the ferocious gull.

Love Be
Out front on the trailing lantana. They don't stay very long, but if I grab my camera when I see them, I might get a shot.
Tucson, Arizona
After dropping off a cut of loaded centerbeams, Quincy 12 makes its way down the steep hill that connects the UP interchange to the American Valley. After getting to the bottom of the hill, the crew would take another cut or two of loads to the interchange before heading back to the Sierra Pacific facility in East Quincy to tie down for the day.
Then we boarded the train
that will lead us through the year 2017
No one knows what lies around the next bend
But whatever the starting point is, grab the days as well as possible.
See the possibilities rather than the limitations,
make the impossible possible.
Say that you love ....
Caring for others
Take a coffee break with a friend
Although you may not really have time
Say something positive to yourself every day,
and meet others with a smile and a positive word.
Take care of yourself
and others as well as you can;)
May our journey through the year 2017 be a nice trip for us all :)

Whilst bouncing up and down on the boat and returning to the mainland this cormorant (I think) came swooping down. Rather than duck (no pun intended) I grabbed this one shot and even though it is clearly out of focus it has a certain something that I find quite likeable.

The relatively balmy weather we've had this January means that there is no ice on the Mississippi, and thus the eagles are spread out. We saw quite a few of them-- well over 50-- but they all along a number of miles of the river, rather than being concentrated at the locks. They also were able to fish the entire width of the river, which resulted in more distant fishing shots like this one. The 'Eagle Days' event in Clarksville Missouri was packed with people, though.

In Switzerland, when you park your bike in a forbidden zone, huge hands emerge from the ground and drag your bike underground to be melted in magma. Once in a while, an unlucky driver is sucked down with it.
or "take out" for our American friends :-)
Not quite a high enough shutter speed employed in this quick grab but I was happy to catch a lone street walker on what was quite a busy high street in Oxford.

Painting this Blue Spotted Coral Reef fish was such a pleasure. I found myself smiling as it found its way onto the watercolor paper.
Reflective Like Glass....
On a Bitter cold and snowy January day i went into the archives to look back at some warmer days where i had taken photos. .this shot of a very wet and rainy day in October stood out for the vibrancy of the colours and the fact that it wasn't snowing...
On that rainy day in October Karen and I donned the rain gear put on our boots, grabbed a couple of umbrellas and headed out to heart lake. the fall colours were quite subdued compared to most years. but we found several beautiful spots to take photos. this shot of a fallen birch nestled on the waters edge was one of those stunning fall shots that if we had stayed home we would never have gotten. i am so glad we weren't afraid of a little rain.
Thank you for visiting and for marking my photo as a favourite and also for the kind comments,

This is the head of my Gibson 'Grabber' bass guitar. It has one pickup in a housing that can be slid towards or away from the neck to produce a different tone.
Looked out the window yesterday and saw fog covering the distant trees, so grabbed my bag and headed to the forest. I had to walk across the top of the South Downs due to fallen trees stopping the buses. It was a tad windy with horizontal rain. But the walk was worth it as I was greeted some wonderful fog and creaking trees. Although did wonder if I was in the wrong place for 40mph winds!
I was very lucky to lock this image when the lady Kestrel put her body into action in order to hold onto her large prey during the windy day.

This flamingo has been around Coyote Hills for many, MANY years. Mostly it has been in the far reaches of the park too far out in the water. I guess it was always just too far to go for me for distant views. Recently "Fernando" as he (or maybe a she??) has been dubbed, has been seen closer to the shore. Still a long walk so we grabbed our lenses and packed them on the bike and rode out to get a look. Of course, there were a bunch of photographers hitting up the "flavor of the month" as I like to call hordes of photographers descending on the latest bird find.
