This is a special time of the evening when I can see the water of the Strait of Juan de Fuca glow with the last rays of the setting sun.
"Be thou the rainbow in the storms of life. The evening beam that smiles the clouds away, and tints tomorrow with prophetic ray."
~ Lord Byron
"Friendship is the shadow of the evening, which increases with the setting sun of life."
~ Jean de la Fontaine
Evenings allow you to forget the bitter worries of the day and get ready for the sweet dreams of night
It's pretty dark here for many of the daylight hours, but with the snow carpet it's so much nicer and brighter in the afternoon and evenings.
Goodevening my friends, first thank you for all comments, invitations and faves in my last photo. Sorry if i didnt comment your last photo yet but i was without internet all afternoon. Commenting now and trying to catch you great photos.

The photo was taken ten minuets and forty two seconds after the sunset. Date and time: 2014:06:23 00:10:42. The sunset in Reykjavik was few minuets after midnight, 00.03 and the sunrise was. 02:56. In Iceland the sun hardly sets down during this period. The summer solstice was three days ago and every year it amazes me the almost absence of the night.

Photo of the day November 01, 2022 - Sunset in Fairmont, NC tonight. Soon after I captured this image, I headed home to spend the evening with my wife.
For #flickrfriday #field I snapped this picture of a crepe myrtle in front of a corn field near Fairmont, NC.
My wife prepared grilled cheese sandwiches as part of our supper this evening. #DailyBread #FlickrFriday

Back when I walked a bit further afield than I now do, I passed this tree often and have a lot of photos of it.
I used to imagine it having a face, just out of (our) sight, as it watched innocent wanderers round the bend into view.
In the later hours of daylight, as it faded, the tree would lower a smaller branch and tap the wanderer lightly on the shoulder and say, quite gently, though in a voice not unlike Sir Christopher Lee: "Good evening..."
There are a lot of ancient woods outside Gravesend, Cobham Woods being one. HS1 and the Channel Tunnel rail link cut into and destroyed large parts but what is left is wonderful, with almost infinite paths to follow.

That beautiful and fleeting evening light paints the landscapes around here often. Cold with a chance of snow already...everything marches inexorably on!
