This was my first rose out this year . Beautiful to see & a delight to smell ,also a very healthy cultivar. This is a new plant , a standard in my new garden. I grew this rose ,in bush form , for many years (over 30 ) in my previous garden ,so I know that I can rely on it .

"Socată" or "Suc de Soc" is a traditional Romanian soft drink made from the flowers of the European elder (or elderberry) shrub, Sambucus nigra (Soc in Romanian). It may be non-alcoholic or, usually, low-alcoholic, and can be carbonated or non-carbonated, depending on the fermentation type and duration. It is produced by the natural fermentation of elder flowers in a lemon and sugar or (traditionally) honey solution.
And it's delicious!

People have loved magnolias for thousands of years. They love them so much that they argue over just how many magnolia species there are. According to the Magnolia Society International, there are currently over 200 species. New species and varieties are being developed all of the time. Each variety is stunningly beautiful with large, fragrant petals.

A brand new hybrid tea-rose for my garden in 2026.
It's 'Fragrant Plum', a purple hybrid tea-rose from the USA with a delicious and exotic fragrance.
Photographed yesterday in Sydney (Monday, 12th January, 2026) amid the consistent summer rain that we have been experiencing. And so here is Belinda Carlisle with her 1980s classic song: 'Summer Rain':

'Fragrant Plum' is a mauve (purple) blend Grandiflora rose cultivar, bred by American hybridizer, Jack E. Christensen before 1988. The rose was awarded the ARS James Alexander Gamble Rose Fragrance Award in 2007. 'Fragrant Plum' thrives in hot climates and has the most amazing fragrance. Hence the fragrance award.
I purchased my 'Fragrant Plum' rose just last week from 'Green E Roses Nursery' at Galston, in the Hills District of Sydney.

Commonly known as moth orchids, is a genus of about seventy species of orchids in the family orchid. Orchids in this genus are monopodial epiphytes or lithophytes with long, coarse roots, short, leafy stems and long-lasting, flat flowers arranged in a flowering stem that often branches near the end. Orchids in this genus are native to India, China, Southeast Asia, New Guinea and Australia with the majority in Indonesia and the Philippines. A few to many, small to large, long-lasting, flat, often fragrant flowers are arranged on erect to hanging racemes or panicles. The sepals and petals are free from and spread widely apart from each other. The lateral sepals are usually larger than the dorsal sepal and the petals much wider than the sepals. The labellum is joined stiffly to the column and has three lobes. The side lobes are erect and more or less parallel to each other and the middle lobe sometimes has a pair of appendages or antennae. 39837
