Herbstlust

The Corsa 505 program is focused on developing drivers into accomplished racers by competing in the deepest and most competitive fields in the nation.
To that end, the Spec Racer Ford is the most successful purpose built road racing car in the United States, with fields of over 30 cars at regional SCCA races and over 60 cars at the National Championship Runoffs. Additionally the Spec Racer Ford (SRF/SRF3) rules, stipulate that no performance enhancing modifications can be made to the car and thus the success of any racer in this class, is solely based on his or her own skill and nothing else. These attributes make the SRF3 Class the ideal platform for our Driver Development Program.
We are proud to have MBI Racing as our technical partner, providing full service 'arrive and drive' track support and driver coaching.
Located at Buttonwillow Raceway Park, MBI Racing is a full service race shop. The MBI team primarily races Spec Racer Fords (SRF/SRF3) but has considerable knowledge and experience in racing Formula Mazda, Formula Continental, and Formula F. To date, MBI has won thirteen Regional Championships and four National Championships.
Last week I posted a photo of Victoria Glacier from Lake Louise showing the glacier lit up in alpenglow light. I also talked about how the crowds at Lake Louise increase dramatically as the morning grows later. Fortunately, with sunrise happening at 5:15am, we still had a relatively crowd-free chance to roam around the lake taking photos. The lake is pretty accessible from all sides, which allows for lots of different compositions. While the light wasn't the golden glow of sunrise when I took this photo, it was still very nice. The lake was smooth as glass, allowing for great reflection shots (my favorite type of photo). For this composition, I wanted to have Victoria Glacier in it while capturing the reflection of Mount Aberdeen in the waters of Lake Louise.
I'm finally getting around to posting some pictures from my first trip to the Roan Highlands (taken in late January). All I've got to say is that the Roan Highlands are impressive, even in the bland months of winter! Throw some pink in those rhododendrons, and some green on the trees, and it's no surprise that this becomes a world-class photographic destination! For those who aren't familiar, the Appalachian Trail crosses the summits of the Roan Highlands, taking a generally west-east route. I followed the AT about 1.5 miles to this location on Jane Bald, arriving an hour before sunrise.
This picture is yet another lesson in why you shouldn't pack up early. I knew that a winter storm was coming, so I was hoping that the sunrise would show for at least a little. When sunrise actually came, the first band of clouds obscured the light, and the sunrise seemed to be a bust. I was about to pack up my gear, but decided to wait just a few minutes later (it was 20 - 30 min. after sunrise by this point). I was opening my backpack to pack my stuff up when the sun finally broke through, showering the slopes of Round Bald with golden morning light. Also, at this moment, the first bands of the storm really started coming over the top of Roan Mountain. I would have missed it all if I left when I originally wanted to!
Even though this is probably the single most cliche shot form the Roan Highlands, I'm still very pleased with the picture and my trip. Regarding the picture, I really like the mix of warm and cool colors. with a gradual transition between the two. As far as the trip goes, I'm glad to have scouted out this area for a trip in June!

This is a shot from a point about 2/3 up Skogafoss, one of Iceland's biggest foss (that means falls in Icelandic). There is a ladder leading up to this point with what seems to be a warning signs picturing a stick figuring falling backwards off of the waterfall. "Be Careful" I guess...
