You know that feeling you get where you want to be left alone. You dont want to have anyone ask anything of you and you only want to have to consider yourself for once. Well I get that now and then because my life is so busy and I got what I wanted on Monday when everyone was off doing their own thing and I was left alone overnight ALL ON MY OWN. And it was great.....for about an hour ;-)

As I’ve mentioned before, I spent a lot of time in 2020 exploring new places in New Jersey to find birds. During the peak of spring shorebird migration, I’ve made few trips all the way down to Delaware Bay to find Red Knots in their full alternate plumage. I can’t wait to come back there again this season

Heiß, heißer, am heißesten ... meine Güte, war das eine heiße Sommernacht ... nur wenn man den kleinen Finger bewegte, brach man schon in Schweiß aus. Stundenlang haben wir am Main gestanden und gewartet, dass die Stadt im Dunkel der Nacht versinkt ... Vor uns tanzten die Schiffe auf dem Main, machten Pirouetten, dann ein kleines Motorboot, ... was hätte ich dafür gegeben, mir den Fahrtwind um die Ohren wehen zu lassen. Später ein paar Surfer, die wie die Gondolieri über den Fluss schipperten. Lang schauen, beobachten ... mal in der Zeit zu sein und nicht zu hetzen ... diese Stunden bleiben unvergessen und sind wie ein innerer Urlaub, wenns außen mal nicht geht.

Das war doch ein super langes Wochenende. Viel geschafft und viel gesehen! Es gab Neumond und klare Nächte - ein Traum für jeden der gerne die Milchstraße fotografiert.

Gesagt getan ging es zusammen mit Andy von Signature Photography in den Oberharz zum Oderteich. Bis zum Beginn der Morgendämmerung wurde die Zeit genutzt und fotografiert. Nur schade dass der Oderteich leer ist.

The last time we were at Page and visited horseshoe bend out in the middle of nowhere, the weather did not cooperate and we had a less than stellar sunset. This time though we had a beautiful sunset but a huge number of people. So getting a shot without people n the frame was nearly impossible. Here is a stitch pano shot made of about 7imagestaken in portrait mode and stitched together to give an ultra wide perspective. It was quite dark by the time I made this shot and hence I had to do a bit of over exposing to get everything in.

Before the Tourists - Lake Louise, Banff National Park, Alberta by Len Saltiel

Last week I posted a photo of Victoria Glacier from Lake Louise showing the glacier lit up in alpenglow light. I also talked about how the crowds at Lake Louise increase dramatically as the morning grows later. Fortunately, with sunrise happening at 5:15am, we still had a relatively crowd-free chance to roam around the lake taking photos. The lake is pretty accessible from all sides, which allows for lots of different compositions. While the light wasn't the golden glow of sunrise when I took this photo, it was still very nice. The lake was smooth as glass, allowing for great reflection shots (my favorite type of photo). For this composition, I wanted to have Victoria Glacier in it while capturing the reflection of Mount Aberdeen in the waters of Lake Louise.

Dieses Foto entstand gegen 5.40 Uhr am Grand Canyon. Eigentlich hatten wir es uns so vorgestellt, dass wir allein am Mather Point stehen würden, um zu beobachten, wie sich die Sonne diesen großartigen Canyon von der Nacht zurück erobert. Aber es sollte ganz anders kommen. Während wir sehr brav zum Nationalpark tuckerten, wurden wir links und rechts überholt, angeblinkt und mit unfreundlichen Blicken traktiert. Zwischen zwei Reisebussen eingeklemmt, machten wir uns am Eingang des Nationalparks keine Illusionen mehr. Der stille Sonnenaufgang würde ein Massenspektakel werden. Was tut Mensch, wenn er an einem großartigen Ort auf den ersten Sonnenstrahl wartet? Reden. Quasseln. Lachen. Und das um 5.30 Uhr. Quasseln in allen Sprachen der Welt. Unaufhörlich. Ohne Unterlass. Kein Moment ruhiger Erwartung. Mir als Morgenmuffel eh ein Graus, Stimmen am frühen Morgen zu hören, entfachte das aufdringliche Lachgemurmel wahre Killerinstinkte in mir. Von der Aussichtsplattform rückten wir schnell ab und verzogen uns immer mehr an den Rand. Adios, du schöner Ausblick. Und da: Mit atemberaubender Gemächlichkeit schiebt sich die Sonne mit einer überirdischen Aura über den Horizont. Hinter uns brandet Applaus auf. Während die einen die Sonne für ihre tägliche Arbeit beklatschen, versuchen Hundertscharen von Handys und Kompakten dem größten aller Canyons Licht einzuschenken. Ich muss lachen. Und langsam pellt sich aus all dem Gemurmel ein einziges, gut vernehmbares Wörtchen: Coffee, Coffee, Coffee, ... und Schlag um Schlag fällt die Meute auseinander. Schiebt sich zurück zu den wartenden Bussen. Nur fünf Minuten später ist das Feld geräumt ... und fast unbemerkt durch flutet die Sonne eine Schicht nach der anderen und entfaltet ihr größtes Spektakel
