Our view is of the idyllic islands of Tarutao National Park, Thailand, on an atmospheric early morning. The Thai National Marine Park comprises 51 outstanding forested islands and coral reefs. It was established in 1974.

Prior to that it was the home for centuries of the Chao Lay or Sea Gypsies (aka People of the Sea). Otherwise, Thailand's nomadic seafaring tribes, who used to roam freely across the Andaman Sea without ties to any country or nationality.

The southernmost end of the park lies on the border with Malaysia, just north of Langkawi's island coastline where this photo was shot from Datai Bay. It offers yet another beautiful nature place to visit in this part of the world.

Belle surprise...

Belle et grande surprise vendredi en fin d'après-midi, les amis Tim et Yves se tenaient au pied d'un hêtre où nous pouvions observer un Petit-duc maculé se reposer paisiblement devant les derniers rayons de soleil du jour. Je retrouvais Hervé, le mâle de ce secteur, qui fut particulièrement perturbé par la présence de deux Chouettes rayées l'automne dernier. Sa conjointe, Aline, manque toujours à l'appel. Tout de même bon signe que de retrouver Hervé dans une de ses cavités habituelles. Ce dernier fut observé par Yves à quelques reprises au cours de l'hiver dans une minuscule cavité située dans la portion sud de son territoire connu, il y semblait bien à l'étroit, mais en toute sécurité...
