It was one of those dreary days of late, when I was out trying to find a suitable subject to photograph, when I found this flower growing in the garden of a local canal side pub.Cheers!

Clematis is known as the queen of climbers. This carefree perennial has vining stems that will happily scramble up trellises, over arbors and through other plants to create a tapestry of summer color. The star-like flowers bloom in colors of white, pink, red, blue or purple.........

Taken at this year's Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show 29 March to 2nd April.

 

Last year I could not find any Clematis flower. This year there were quite a few on display.

 

The background is not the best but I could not find any better POV.

 

This species is Clematis Negritjanka.

Clematis flammula es una liana de regiones templadas. Se extiende por toda la cuenca mediterránea, las Azores y Asia occidental. En la península ibérica se encuentra, principalmente, en el sur y el este. Vive en matorrales, encinares aclarados y márgenes de cultivos, en sitios abiertos y soleados, generalmente a baja altura y casi nunca demasiado alejada de la influencia marina. Se cultiva ocasionalmente como ornamental. Se la conoce popularmente por hierba muermera o gata rabiosa, este último nombre, por la propiedad que tiene de provocar un intenso ardor en la piel si se frota en ella.

Clematis montana in Little Common Stanmore. I used to have this in my garden, it was very pretty but took over and smothered everything.

Created for a friend who loves my mutant Clematis. Many years ago I purchased a solid purple from Home Depot, but out came this beauty.
