It is thought that this ancient tree - an oak planted during the reign of Henry Vlll - inspired the legendary character Treebeard in JRR Tolkien's Lord Of The Rings. Tolkien lived nearby and would walk these woods sparking his imagination to write his stories.
Treebeard was a giant tree that could walk and talk in Tolkien's novel. Such a tree was considered an Ent, and there were other Ents in Lord Of The Rings too.
The tree is natural and has not been adapted which makes it even more amazing.
Facing the final monster, the little gamer declares,
“You will never defeat the guardians of light!”

• I've recently become obsessed with the idea of making subtle expressions for my characters. What does this expression say to you?
Looking as though it is planning something untoward I was glad that I was using a long lens.
The shot of this grey seal bull was taken at Donna Nook on the Lincolnshire coast.
I always have wanted to do one of these character evolution thingie, so I decided to do one of Cherrelyn, mainly because she is one of my oldest character and whom has evolved so much. So here you have it guys, from the upper left is were’s she started out basically to the lower right, how she is now.
Less than a mile from the Garden is where I did much of my first "birding" such as it was. And one of my first encounters with what was one of my longest lasting nemeses, the male Belted Kingfisher.
First, this was at Heather Farm Reserve when it was more wildlife than human. There is a very large pond with an island that creates a lagoon. And in this lagoon lived (maybe still does) a Belted Kingfisher which have a ratcheting call and a bill like an Australian Kookaburra. He would perch on a favorite snag (which the city cut off five years later) and call. As soon as you'd come running, he would fly to the other side of the island and, dutifully, I would run to try and get just one decent shot. This training of humans - I wasn't the only one - went on for almost five years when I spotted him before he saw me.
This was not the greatest shot, and it has been archived for eight years until my software came with a clarity brush and I was able to bring this character out in the open.
I keep mentioning the male. That is because the female Belted Kingfisher was only seen once and that was in 2019. The female has two bars across the chest, an example of sexual dimosphism. I saw her once, and never again.
When the City began pruning, chopping, fencing and doing other inane things to a park that had existed for over 100 years, the wildlife left and me along with them. I saw one of the people I used to see every day at the Reserve (now at the Garden), and she told me it has been dead as a doornail for three years. That includes the dragonflies because the ponds are low, no fish, and unsuitable for even the small number of Odonata we used to have.
I feel like a Burrowing Owl who keeps getting moved by planning developers, something I witnessed first hand and four times with the local colonies. Now, they're too far for me to go...
Great character, just sitting outside a coffee house, not sure why he was dressed up, just because he could maybe.
Painted Bunting ~ (Passerina ciris)
The contrast between the showy colors of the male Painted Bunting and the shyness of its personality is a fascinating disparity to me. They like to stay low in the underbrush feeding on seeds and are wary of people, but are also so striking visually.

Many of the houses on this hill are grade II listed buildings which gives them a degree of protection from development and change thereby maintaining the character of this famous tourist attraction. Gold Hill has featured in films such as Thomas Hardy's Far From the Madding Crowd and the 1970's Hovis television advert.
The wedding reception was held at a gazebo not too far from the chapel. It was a lovely spot with lots of trees and flowers.
This marvellous little moth hides in plain sight by imitating a bird dropping . Close inspection reveals the exquisite detail that completes its wonderful disguise.

L’oeuvre amplifiera le projet initié par Dominique Matagne, artiste, professeur d’arts plastiques et gérante du Comptoir de la céramique. Elle le complétera « à cent doigts », doigts de ses amis, artistes passionnés, tous porteurs du projet.
A l’heure où les questions du climat et de la mobilité sont au cœur de tous les débats, la « Caravane des Possibles » illustrera une autre façon de se déplacer en dehors des schémas actuels qui sont profondément remis en cause. Elle permettra de mener à bien une réflexion autour d’une mobilité rêvée, voire poétique ou utopique, à laquelle seul l’art peut donner accès.
La caravane questionne sur la problématique des migrants, celle des départs, des fuites de tous ordres. Quelles directions prendra cette caravane ? Pourquoi ? Comment ?
Ce sont peut-être les questions que l’oeuvre éveillera chez le spectateur…
You can recognize the steps from Liège and the characters of the cartoonist François Walthéry, Natacha, the air hostess and the pigeon fancier "Li Vî bleu".
It is a convoy in the spirit of the ancient silk caravans. The work will amplify the project initiated by Dominique Matagne, artist, plastic arts teacher and manager of the Comptoir de la Céramique. She will complete it "with a hundred fingers", fingers of her friends, passionate artists, all carriers of the project.
At a time when climate and mobility issues are at the heart of all debates, the “Caravane des Possibles” will illustrate another way of getting around outside of current patterns that are deeply questioned. It will make it possible to carry out a reflection around a dream mobility, even poetic or utopian, to which only art can give access.
The caravan questions the issue of migrants, that of departures, escapes of all kinds. What directions will this caravan take? For what ? How ?
These are perhaps the questions that the work will awaken in the viewer...

This photo is part of the final assignment "Character Portrait" in my "Lighting Techniques" photography course. The portrait should reflect a lot of "character". I chose keylight on the left and fill light on the front. The hair is also slightly lightened at the back on the left. The depth of field is very limited, with some blur already present at the back of the hair.
