April/May Hiking Trip.

Day 2. Monday, April 29th.

Tallulah Gorge State Park, GA.

My photos.

The Shortline bike trail was the best part of this day. We rode it twice. FINALLY got some quiet time in the woods. This place is SO noisy from the highway, but the Shortline was cool, quiet and pleasant.

This day was a huge disappointment. the place has a ton of rules and a schedule for water releases. We planned our entire trip around hiking the gorge using their schedule. We get their early Monday morning (only 100 passes per day allowed) and were told they're decided to extend the water release. WTF?! This is actually the 2nd time this happened to us. The first was on another trip and we detoured 200+ miles to hike the gorge, but it started sprinkling when we arrived and they closed it. And the girl at the campground was rude that day, so we didn’t even camp. Don't think we'll go back here again.

Camping: The kids and I went camping. Don't they look thrilled!

The goalies at Prospect Camp don't have an easy time. In fact, they get it pretty rough.

Our house needed to be painted. We thought about doing it ourselves, but the ceiling looked bad...like maybe someone painted over wallpaper. So we decided to hire the pros. Which was a good thing, they started scraping the ceiling and it fell in on them, so they had to replace it. To escape the drywall dust and paint fumes we went camping.

Don't worry...the bottle is empty!

Ahh, summertime. Blissful relaxation, fun in the sun and backyard BBQs.

But don't forget that Timmy's baseball tournament is coming up and Dad will be out of town on his golfing trip this weekend. And good luck planning that BBQ around visiting day at summer camp.

Don't give up on family bonding time this summer. Before you cancel that trip to Disney World, try coordinating using one of these social networks.

Have you ever just wanted to walk into the national forest, set up your tent, and go camping? Well lucky for you, you can!

This is known as "dispersed camping," which is any camping done outside of a developed recreation site. Here in the Wayne National Forest, dispersed camping is allowed almost everywhere. In fact, there are over 240,000 acres of your public land open to dispersed camping!

There ARE a few key places, however, where it’s not allowed. You cannot disperse camp in developed recreation areas and developed campgrounds, and you also cannot disperse camp in areas marked as day-use only. Otherwise, go for it!

Dispersed camping is a great way to have a quiet, secluded nature experience. Oh, and did we mention it’s FREE! If you do go dispersed camping, don’t expect any services. There won’t be bathrooms available. There won’t be water available. There won’t be any trash cans, so you’ll need to pack out everything you pack in.

When I was at a shopping-mall, i saw those tents everywhere. Sometime the make this funy wooden fench around it, and I was wondering, is it included the price? But still a strange place for camping, don´t you think?

When camping don't leave your melon unattended. Or some fruit snorkin' monkey is liable to get it.

This little cub got trapped in the tree by a buffalo at Ekorian's Mugie Camp. Don't worry Mom chased the buffalo away!

Two rules of camping: Don't be the first one asleep, and in this case, don't be the last one up.

.... wish it did considering how much i have just put into envelopes to pay for brownie subs, guide subs, census, and pontins installements for both girls. Good job mum helped pay for their pontins trip as part of their xmas pressie ! And on the same night Chloe came home from guides with details of another 2 guide camps . Don t we all wish that money did grow on trees !

Back at camp. Don't know what he is holding his hand out for? $$$ maybe knowing him!

This is my daughter before cheer camp.! Don't u love her eyes??

Chime says, "Nooooooo! Don't go camping! Don't leave me!!! Here, I'll help you unpack."

Abu Camp: Don't panic and stand a bit closer.

only the best for me while camping. don't you love the face in the bark piece?

Actually, a lot of people who visit camp don't understand what it means. This tussock moth caterpillar (Orgyia detrita) can probably be excused since it is so much smaller than the sign. There are people who do not like these little caterpillars because they make sensitive skin itch. They can also defoliate trees, which I think is a much better reason to dislike them. All in all, they come and go year after year. This year there were far fewer than last.

mom fell asleep whilst waiting for the bears to come to our camp. don't know what she would have done had they actually arrived but she was excited to potentially see one. and we did not!
