Another from last year. The background is natural - just the early light falling on golden grass with the butterfly in my shadow and a tweak or two of the exposure.

I am continuing my series of photos taken at one of my sisters' houses.

I positioned myself so that the sun was directly behind me in order to illuminate the bird well. But with this angle, the background is completely in shadow.

During post-processing, I therefore accentuated the low-key effect, which I don't usually do, as I much prefer a background that is as well lit as the subject. But that was impossible here.

J'ai pris plusieurs photos chez une de mes sœurs, qui semble avoir tous les beaux oiseaux chez elle cet hiver. Me positionnant pour avoir le soleil directement derrière moi, l'arrière-plan était alors complètement à l'ombre. Je préfère de beaucoup avoir un arrière-plan aussi bien éclairé que le sujet, mais en même temps, c'est vrai que ça fait ressortir l'oiseau coloré encore plus avec un arrière-plan sombre.

Macro Mondays - Cold

Image measures 2" on the long side.

This little branch of pussy willows was included in a flower bouquet. I sprayed it with a fine mist and put it in the freezer. The background is a decorative plate. Shot with natural light from a north window.

Kites look so much better against a darker background. I usually get shots of them with a white or blue sky and the contrast is just not enough. That's why I think this is a lovely background.
