I've definitely got a love/ hate relationship with this railroad and today was a little of both but that's a story for another time. Anyway here was the reward for a long almost unproductive day as the Battenkill Railroad's venerable old Alco RS3 4116 creaks along and crosses the Owl Kill at Eagle Bridge NY. A little BK is better than no BK at all.
Eine der wohl bekanntesten Stellen entlang der Schiefen Ebene zwischen Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg und Marktschorgast ist, neben dem Aussichtspunkt bei Kilometer 80,0, unumstritten der ehemalige Block Streitmühle bei km 77,9. Schon seit Jahrzehnten tummeln sich hier Eisenbahnfans und Fotografen, um spektakuläre Aufnahmen verschiedenster Dampflokomotiven auf Ihren Bergfahren festzuhalten, welche dabei eine Neigung von bis zu 25 Promille bewältigen müssen. Damals wie heute kommt es immer wieder vor, dass Züge die Bergfahrt abbrechen und zurück zum Ausgangspunkt in Neuenmarkt-Wirsberg müssen.
Während die nette Besitzerin des Häuschens gerade Ihre Gartenarbeit für eine Tasse Kaffee unterbrach, war es für 232 609 an jenem Frühlingstag ein leichtes, die 7,4 km bis Marktschorgast zu absolvieren, war sie doch nur als Lokzug unterwegs, um einen umgeleiteten Güterzug in Hof abzuholen.
Der Triebfahrzeugführer wird später berichten, dass auch er die Vorbeifahrt am berühmten Bk Streitmühle mit einem Foto festhielt :)

Wolken voller Schnee liegen über Solling und Harz und haben bereits einen guten Teil ihrer Last zur Erde fallen lassen. Eine Wolke aufgewirbelten Schnees hinter sich lassend, passieren die beiden Akkutriebwagen 515 510-6 und 515 502-3 als E 3506 Walkenried – Ottbergen die Blockstelle Berwartshausen zwischen Northeim und Moringen.

The WATBAR ( Manifest Watson, CA to Barstow, CA) sits on main two at Fullerton as it waits patiently for a Pacific Surfliner to crossover onto main one. The train consisting of mostly empty LPG Tanks will have no problem getting back up to speed once it gets the green signal to proceed east, as BNSF 3754 and four 7700's are more than capable of pulling.
