Blue hour there in Bar Harbor, Maine. Increased the ISO here to lessen the shutter speed (as the boats were moving some) in the low light. The warm light is from the town.
Took the ISO higher here in the late blue hour to keep the exposure shorter and thus the boats from moving less.
Long exposure full frame view of the blue hour in Bar Harbor. Miss this, and hope to return there some day again.
For this capture I cloned out a couple smaller boats that were moving too much anchored out on the harbor, and also cooled the white balance a little to not have the town lighting that was shining on the boats there be too warm.
Increased the ISO here to keep the shutter speed shorter as the water was not completely calm and the boats were moving about.
Here is a capture taken in Bar Harbor Maine earlier in the blue hour where I was able to try opening the aperture wide on the 24mm, go to ISO 250 and keep the exposure to around 8 seconds. With the slight chop in the water, this is about the total time to keep the shutter open and not have the boats docked there from moving.
Also, the White Balance here is around 5000K ... allowing for a nice balance I think between the blue hour sky and the warmer light from the town area lighting up the pier and boats.
For this blue hour capture, increased the ISO to 800 to keep the shutter shorter so that the boats did not move much.
Bar Harbor, Maine
Late evening view as blue hues filled the cloudy sky there along this waterfront hotel at Bar Harbor, Maine.
Happy Bench Monday ;)
... in Bar Harbor. Well maybe not the other 'Half' ... but the well to do :))
Took the long exposure about as far as I could with the boats not moving too much out there. They looked pretty in the twilight all lit up out on the water.
Extended the zoom to 105mm to get a closer view of this little boat out on the harbor. Knew I did not want too long of an exposure as the boat was anchored, but still moving a little in the slight breeze. Went to ISO 800 and 5 seconds, which seemed to be a good balance.
Bar Harbor, Maine
Late in the day as the sunset was evidently happening somewhere there above the fog over Bar Harbor, creating some interesting tones there in the scene.
Foggy evening there in the park below all the shops there in Bar Harbor, Maine. It was quite pretty there in the fog and darkness that was taking over.
The person there on the pier looking at her phone was my eldest daughter during our photographic tour of Maine this past early Fall. I yelled to her that the view was pretty cool from down below ... she told me to be slow and fall ;)
