I was watching this Great Blue Heron as it was being bombarded by Red Wing Blackbirds. Caught this sequence of one being particularly annoying.
He was fast. Almost too fast. But why was he coming after her?
She had wandered away from the rest of the group to get in some target practice, ignoring the warning of her leader that there may be savages in the wood. This man appeared out of nowhere and now she was on the run.
All she needed was one good shot. . .
It was another exciting morning out with the Short-eared Owls. When the Harrier came in too close the Owl attacked. It is so interesting to observe their behavior. I believe the Owl Is overwintering in the area for a few months and this is probably the Harrier's normal territory. But it looks like the SE Owl is the aggressor.
If you have nothing better to do, you can lie in wait for the hummingbird hawk-moths in the garden and hope that they will eventually fly into focus...I felt like doing that yesterday ;-).
Unfortunately, the permanent focus on the eyes doesn't work with insects on the Nikon Z8.

Wenn man sonst nichts besseres zu tun hat kann man im Garten den Taubenschwänzchen auflauern und hoffen, dass sie irgendwann in die Schärfeebene fliegen...gestern war mir danach;-).
Das mit dem permanenten Fokus auf die Augen funktioniert bei der Nikon Z8 leider nicht bei Insekten.

On April 30 I had a lovely chat with friendly visitors from space and I even could sneek a peek into their cockpit and take an image of it ! You see the captain of the crew.
Unfortunaltely this space ship was too small for me to hop in myself ... but it was a fun encounter nonetheless !

This is actually the plastic head of a reusable metal cocktail stick for finger food; taken in front of the keyboard of my tablet with internal lighting switched on; additional lighting with a coloured LED-light
[ taken with the manual Laowa 60mm 2x magnification lens @ about f/4; the "head"' is about 2.5 cm high ]

Am 30. April hatte ich ein nettes Gespräch mit freundlichen Besuchern aus dem All und konnte sogar einen Blick in ihr Cockpit werfen und Aufnahmen davon machen ! Ihr seht den Kapitän der Crew.
Leider war das Raumschiff zu klein für mich, um einzusteigen ... dennoch: eine lustige Begegnung !

Das ist tatsächlich ein Cocktail-Spieß / Partyspießchen für Fingerfood (wiederverwendbar mit Metallspieß und witzigen Plastikfigürchen als Kopf; es sind insgesamt 8 verschiedene in der Packung), die Tastatur meines Tablets mit eingeschalteter Beleuchtung im Hintergrund und zusätzliche Beleuchtung durch farbiges (rotes) LED-Licht

This is a Southern Crested Caracara, also known as Carancho, attacking a Black-collared Fishing Hawk that had just caught a nice meal. The hawk dropped the fish which I believe got away. This was a grab shot as I was following the hawk with the camera when the Caracara came out of nowhere.

My husband and I drove into a parking lot near a hiking trail and this yellow warbler showed up. It came closer so I took some pictures of it while sitting in the car. It then started to attack our car. Maybe there was a nest near by or he saw his reflection in the car because he would attack the windows and side mirrors. We decided to move the car a bit but he continued to follow it. Finally we parked on the other side of the street and away a bit.
My cat doesn't always look sweet, he is only playing here though :) He's only allowed to play like that if someone has sleeves on, if you didn't have on sleeves, he wouldn't try this :) I took this with my phone.

My mum was savagely attacked by these cute little birds. I couldn’t do anything but take photos of her whilst being ferociously assailed by sweet parakeets.…lol. She had a wonderful time feeding them.
A coyote is pouncing at the local pond. I don't know what it was chasing, but I did not see any catch. ✔️
At least I don't have a bullet hole in me. The other person does. I survived.

“Tomorrow” Pose
I've seen Snowy Egrets be aggressive with one another, but it usually was all bluster. Yesterday, I witnessed one physically attack another one.
If you look at this photo in the largest size, you should be able to see the top Snowy with its beak trapping the other Snowy's beak, holding the beak tightly together with its foot.! This is all happening mid-air!
The shot was taken at quite a distance. Fortunately, I had my 500mm lens with my 1.4 teleconverter. It's really a beast to handhold - the teleconverter throws off the weight distribution for me, but I'm so glad I had it to get this shot.
