PALM BAY, Cliftoville Kent, a area along the cliff tops, mainly for dog walks, runners ect, with the councils policy to let the grass areas go wild, is a sheer delight, the area is now filled with wild flowers, and tall grasses bees and butterfly's, house sparrows galore. Also a lot of meadow pipits, many with food for the youngsters in the long weedy areas, shows just how a small policy change has brought so much life to a area not known for it.

Sandhill Cranes seen in Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area near McNeal, Arizona. It is estimated that 20,000 Sandhill Cranes make this area their home each winter.
Great Egrets are lovely at any time of year but particularly when they grow their long and lacy breeding feathers and their lores, the colorful area between the bill and eyes, turns a bright green. This lovely lady was waiting in her nest, posing for a picture. For whatever reason, I decided to play with the background and added a yellow glow around her body and then superimposed some clouds from one of my stock sky pictures. (Enjoy this scientific name: Casmerodius albus. I just like saying it.)

I processed a few more photos from my vacation to Bryce so thought I may as well post another. I promise not to post another 25 of them:-))).
I did stick my neck out here thinking I might vaguely ID this critter. I was actually looking for a Barn Owl, which was less than cooperative in terms of photo ops, so these guys were a great consolation.
The other day we drove down to Elk Rapids to a Walk in the Park. Nice to be out side too. Packed a lunch and although it was cool we sat in the car had lunch and enjoyed this view.
love the detail of the Hasselblad, look closely, you might register a handprint in the center of the picture
or so they tell us--for a bit at least. It's been one blast after another for months, it seems!

This flower changes color from pure white when it just opens, then progressively darkens with violet stripes as it ages. This is a very challenging flower to photograph! Many tries before I took this one that I feel is of presentation quality. Hope you like it!
