What united us as true sisters were the honor, the truth, the strength of the fight against falsehood, charming words from those who want to deceive, steal, lie or look at us like meat in the butcher's shop. Each of us has a brother who shares the same principles: equality, friendship, trust, honesty, loyalty.

At Pantanal, Mato Grosso, Brasil - Male - The Amazon Kingfisher is a resident of lakeshores and large-slow flowing rivers from northern Mexico south to central Argentina. They are large dark bronzy green birds with a ragged crest, a white throat and collar, and a white belly; the breast of the male is rufous, while the female has a narrower green breastband. Amazon Kingfishers are superficially similar to the Green Kingfisher Chloroceryle americana, but are much larger with a heavier bill, and typically forage from more conspicuous perches. Amazon Kingfishers hunt fish and crustaceans from a perch, diving into the water to catch their prey and then returning to the same perch before stunning their prey and swallowing it head first. These kingfishers also occasionally hover above the water before diving to catch prey. The nests are excavated by making tunnels into road cuts or erosion gullies near water.
Wishing everyone a Peaceful Bokeh Wednesday!

Lucky to get, out of about 25 attempts, two fairly decent, almost focused, bigly cropped, shots of this bird as he kept ahead of us in our bobbing zodiac on the Penas Blancas river
Arguably the longest river in the world, the Amazon meanders its way from the towering Andes in Peru to the sweeping coastline of Brazil, where it empties into the vast Atlantic Ocean. The Amazon River and its tributaries is located in Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Brazil. The entire river measures over 4,000 miles from its source to the river mouth. However, the exact length of the Amazon is arguable as the location of its start and end points have both been disputed historically. The Amazon River is currently alleged to be 6,992 kilometers long.*

The coolie butterfly, scarlet peacock or brown peacock (Anartia amathea) is a mediumsized common butterfly in South America.
The butterfly lives in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, the Brazilian highlands, the eastern Amazon, the Guianas, Venezuela, and Panama, but also on the southern Caribbean islands.
The coolie is found in disturbed habitats such as gardens, forest clearings, orchards, roadsides, fields and pastures.
It also occurs in primary rainforest, along riverbanks and in glades.
It is found at altitudes between sea level and about 1600 m, but is commonest between 100 - 800 m.
The base color of the wings is either dark brown or black and there are usually three large red spots located near the base of the lower wings. The males have a distinct red coloration, whereas the females are slightly larger and orange-brown.
The wingspan is 5 - 6 cm.
