Tirolerkogel

is a Dolomite plateau and the largest high-altitude Alpine meadow in Europe. It is in the Italy's South Tyrol province in the Dolomites mountain range, it is a major tourist attraction, notably for skiing and hiking.

Die Seiser Alm ist die größte Hochalm Europas. Sie liegt in den Südtiroler Dolomiten in Italien, rund 20 km nordöstlich von Bozen und oberhalb der bekannten Tourismus-Orte Seis am Schlern, Kastelruth und St. Ulrich in Gröden.

Just in case the non German-speakers are confused - ALM is the German term for an alpine pasture ...

Taken on a hill near to Saltria overlooking Sassolungo and Sassopiatto just after the sun had emerged above the distant hills.

Behind the trees in the background there are the football fields of the club where two of my three brothers and I used to play football. The third brother didn't play football, because he has two left feet.

Anyone who goes to Val Gardena in South Tyrol can experience first hand how one of the most impressive mountains in the world was created from the ancient sea Thethys. Because here are the Dolomites, which have been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
