I went to CBEC one day last August specifically to capture these interesting Snowberry Clearwing Moths. I set up near the flowers they were visiting and sure enough one would buzz by every couple of minutes. This image was special because I was trying to get the one approaching the flower when all of a sudden this other one comes flying in. I didn't know if this was a sexual thing or just competition, but it was the coolest thing that I caught that day!
By the way, if it seems I'm reaching back a lot more recently, I am. Getting ready to move to Alaska takes a toll on ones time. I try to get out where I can by my time is limited, but just wait until I get to Alaska!

Un Petit Chevalier aux aguets!
J'aurais bien aimé compléter mon approche. Il en manquait peu. Son comparse du moment aura sonné l'alerte. D'où cette belle pose où son regard fixe en direction de ce dernier. Je ne sais trop pourquoi d'ailleurs, à ce moment-là j'étais bien tranquille à tenter de le capter avec ma lentille qui frôlait alors la surface de l'eau. Nous avons rien remarqué de particulier. Eux oui! Toujours aux aguets ses petits limicoles.

Nyhavn was constructed by King Christian V from 1670 to 1675, dug by Swedish prisoners of war from the Dano-Swedish War 1658–1660.
It is a gateway from the sea to the old inner city at Kongens Nytorv (King's Square), where ships handled cargo and fishermens' catch. It was notorious for beer, sailors, and prostitution. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen lived at Nyhavn for some 18 years.
In the mid-1960s, the Nyhavn Society was founded with the aim of revitalising the area. In 1977, Nyhavn was inaugurated as a veteran ship and museum harbour.

L'endroit m'a semblé propice pour faire des photos de rue. Une place avec une fontaine en plein été et une terrasse de restaurant pour me poser. Je suis resté là deux heures, j'ai pris mon temps pour lire l'espace et me faire oublier.
J'ai fait 35 photos avec un 50 mm. j'en ai gardé 7.
Toutes sont recadrées parce que je ne voulais ni me déplacer, ni changer d'objectif.
J'aime faire des séries...

Bonjour à tous, en ce samedi matin d'avril quelques peu venteux, la BB 7338 était en tête du train spécial de l'ACPR 141R1126 Toulouse - Sète pour la fête du port.
Quel plaisir de voir cette belle rame passer sous les poteaux midi !
Le train est vu à Conilhac-Corbières (11) avec en arrière-plan le paysage typique de ce secteur que j'aime tant.
AIM's critter, 1936, moves cars about as they are loaded with scrap. The cars are loaded with a front end loader (visible between the LH80 and the gons), and the LH80 is used to distribute the loads.
Two hunters were quick to take aim when they spotted the prize - a fox, but after much chasing, the entourage was unable to catch the sly fox!

C'est dire l'immensité de la tâche des organisateurs, chargés de pourvoir à la subsistance de cette multitude rassemblée à Vertus et dans les localités avoisinantes. On saigne la région à blanc, jusqu'à Épernay, Châlons, et même Reims. Les réquisitions sont écrasantes; elles portent sur les biens, mais aussi sur les hommes, dont 300 sont chargés de niveler la plate-forme de la butte témoin et d'y établir une balustrade.
Cinquante généraux et leur suite logent à Avize.
Le tsar, le roi de Prusse, l'empereur d'Autriche, le prince royal de Bavière, le duc de Wellington sont à Vertus, ainsi qu'une foule considérable venue de Paris, parmi laquelle on compte beaucoup d'Anglais.
La table d'Alexandre Ier, ouverte du 8 au 12 septembre, comporte jusqu'à 300 couverts, servis à la russe; elle est confiée à l'illustre Carême, cuisinier en chef de la maison du tsar, qui doit surmonter des difficultés sans nombre pour qu'elle soit digne de sa réputation.
Le pays par lui-même n'a aucune ressource, écrit-il dans Le Maître d'hôtel français, les provisions que nous en tirâmes n'ont pas suffi, aussi fûmes-nous obligés de tirer tout notre matériel de la capitale.
Le champagne est fourni par la maison Moët, à raison de 1900 bouteilles à 3 francs et 300 bouteilles de qualité supérieure à 4 francs.
La cérémonie a lieu le 10 septembre 1815. Elle débute à l'aube par diverses évolutions des troupes massées dans la plaine. Puis les souverains et les officiers généraux et supérieurs descendent à cheval du Mont Aimé pour en passer la revue. Le spectacle est impressionnant; l'histoire a rarement connu une telle concentration de troupes présentée à une assistance d'une qualité si éminente, dans un site aussi approprié.
La manifestation a eu à l'époque un grand retentissement. Elle a encore alourdi les charges des Champenois, si éprouvés, mais en revanche elle a sans aucun doute contribué à accroître en France et en Europe l'audience du champagne qui, sous la Restauration, va prendre une ampleur considérable."
Pas moins de 300 000 hommes, soldats et officiers de tous grades, armés de 500 pièces de canon, 85 000 chevaux ont été rassemblés pour cette immense parade.
Ce 10 septembre 1815, à 2 heures de l’après-midi, un signal fut donné, 300 000 voix crièrent « stourras », à un signal, 300 000 fusils firent chacun six charges dans l’espace de 17 minutes. Ensuite, les 500 canons firent plusieurs fois entendre leur terrible voix, bouquet final de cette grande fête militaire.
Take Aim gratitude challenge. I am grateful for 13 wonderful years with this dog, who passed away Dec 2 at the age of 14. She had a terrific life with us, having been brought from the streets to a home. Rest in Peace, Honey.
