This is a compilation of pictures from a long uphill walk through the Albayzín, which is the ancient Moorish quarter of the city and transports the visitor to a unique world: the site of the ancient city of Elvira, so-called before the Zirid Moors renamed it Granada. It housed the artists who went up to build the palaces of Alhambra on the hill facing it. Of particular note is the Mirador de San Nicolás where a stunning view of The Alhambra can be admired.

Lightsaber and lightning were NOT photoshopped in. They were lightpainted in with a flashlight and colored LEDs and taken in the same photo as the subject (me). I did composite the two photos together though since I am playing the part of both Jedi and Sith.

I used 2 x green LED's and 1 x white LED (between the greens) taped down to the end of a broom stick to lightpaint the lightsaber. The flare at the bottom is me struggling to turn the LED's off but I thought it looked cool :) The hardest part was dropping the broom and positioning my hands in the correct spot where the lightsaber ends when I set the flash off.

I used two LED flashlights to lightpaint the lightning. I flared the flashlights into the lens a bit near the hands for effect. Once again, it was a bit of a pain to drop the flashlights and line my hands up to where the lightning ends when the flash goes off.
we lingered, enjoying the last of our time with friends. the evening was beautiful and i was able to convince my reluctant walker to take a walk with me. the sunset was amazing. (and in other news we started the third in this series. love them!)
Woke up today feeling like shit. Didn't really feel like putting a lot of effort into todays 365.
Maybe tonight ill take something different.

Thinking these days about the outward things, and not wanting to cling to them, and not wanting to forget the inner things.
The time of the photo was approximately 5:30pm and nearly 17 hours later both towers were gone. We had borrowed the camera and I was unfamiliar with the settings so it was only when we returned home to Ireland and had the photos developed that we realised the date settings had been switched on and all the snaps of our New York visit contained the date within the picture. The date which is not in the American format uniquely transforms this otherwise unremarkable holiday snap. The presence of the date gives it a sense of eeriness due to the impending carnage that was soon to follow. I also think the date has the appearance of a timer counting down the dying moments of an old world since replaced by the tense and paranoid world we live in today.
