Listening to people tell about their dreams has got to be one of the most boringest experiences in the human condition. I know that. But still...let me tell you about the dream I had last night.
I was at work, and I was looking at a Mary Kay catalog. A couple of the other tutors (women) came over to look at it with me, over my shoulder. They hovered close behind me; I could feel their spiritual presence more powerfully than the physical; one put her hand on my shoulder. I instinctively lightly took hold of her fingertips. She curled her fingers more fully around mine.
In that spontaneous moment of artless and sisterly affection, I knew that my transition was complete. Never mind the "high heels and stockings and [fill in whatever fetish you like best] make me feel like a woman" trope. Those things don't make a woman. The kindness and genuine friendship of women, to be fully in their circle, and to have it acknowledged in the little ways that women do, that men don't and never will--that is what will make me feel. fully, like a woman.
As happens in dreams, the emotion was overpowering. It was one of those dreams that stay with one forever..
I only hope it happens in the waking world someday.
