I'm traveling and left the SD card with the September photos at home, so will have to do with the test shots I made with the new phone. This is the usual Pollyface in the grass.
Listening to people tell about their dreams has got to be one of the most boringest experiences in the human condition. I know that. But still...let me tell you about the dream I had last night.
I was at work, and I was looking at a Mary Kay catalog. A couple of the other tutors (women) came over to look at it with me, over my shoulder. They hovered close behind me; I could feel their spiritual presence more powerfully than the physical; one put her hand on my shoulder. I instinctively lightly took hold of her fingertips. She curled her fingers more fully around mine.
In that spontaneous moment of artless and sisterly affection, I knew that my transition was complete. Never mind the "high heels and stockings and [fill in whatever fetish you like best] make me feel like a woman" trope. Those things don't make a woman. The kindness and genuine friendship of women, to be fully in their circle, and to have it acknowledged in the little ways that women do, that men don't and never will--that is what will make me feel. fully, like a woman.
As happens in dreams, the emotion was overpowering. It was one of those dreams that stay with one forever..
I only hope it happens in the waking world someday.
When was the last time you got a letter? When was the last time you wrote one?
Sadly young people are growing up without ever knowing the thrill of getting a letter in the post as instant messaging is ruining the art of correspondence.
Deciding what to wear to my tutoring job is always a bit of a balancing act. It's a college campus, where the most casual-to-sloppy attire is de rigueur. But it's a college campus, which I think requires a certain formality, at least for the educators (sadly, the teachers are oftentimes as uncaring as the students in what they wear...but I'm from a very different era. )
So this was my choice for the high wire a few days ago. A denim skirt, kind of casual, but a nice top and pendant and, of course, my favorite kitten heels.
I doubt anyone noticed, much less cared, but standards are standards, and they're there for a reason.
But...well, full disclosure: I have to admit that I knew that I would be posting these photos here on Flickr, and my legs always garner nice comments. So I'm not altogether altruistic; a healthy dose of vanity went into the outfit too!
