This principle is extremely important. Obviously, timing is important in all types of media, including live-action films. It refers to the amount of drawings/frames for a given action which ultimately affects the speed of the action in the animation or film.
Timing helps to assist the illusion of weight also, as a heavier object for example will take longer to be pushed when compared to that of a lighter object, and thus will include more drawings or frames.

with disposable cameras -- Not sure how much is
the fault of the camera and much might be the fault
of the developers --- ]
